Story
Meet Tara, a Shar Pei mix girl with the most pensive eyes imaginable.  She is extremely loyal and very loving.  She wants to be with her family all the time, and is up for any adventure.  Tara was pregnant when she was rescued and raised her beautiful puppies.  Now, it's time for her to find a family all her very own.  She has been spayed and microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccinations.  Tara is a house dog, who wants to spend time sitting near or beside you.  She does well with other dogs and cats.  she walks well on a leash, but would love to run and play in a fenced in yard.  If you are interested in adopting Tara, please contact her through Critter Cavalry Rescue.   Email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Sorry, we cannot adopt to MA residents.

Story
Tiny started out a little timid but has blossomed into a snort snuffelapagus! He was found as a stray in the park, and described as friendly, scared and playful. While with us, he was a bit overwhelmed in the kennels (understandably!) but was moved into an office and has shown himself to be a goofball. He loves to play and will do a not so graceful leap when you toss a toy for him. He's curious and will sniff out a snack wherever you have it, but is a little picky so often spits it out, he just wants to know he CAN have it if he wants it. He will sit but it will take a minute as he's very easily distracted. He's young and will need some training, as he can get a little excited and will jump up enthusiastically, but for that reason we think he'd be best set up for success in a home with older kids. When left alone in the office he is not destructive, and he also walks nicely on a leash (though we can't guarantee it's in a straight line!). Behavioral notes; 5/5 went into my office, he had been in there for a night and didn't know me, but sniffed me and then pounced on the dog bed, and came back up to me wagging his whole body. During the day he was good, he solicited pets with me and I pet him all over without issue though his ears obviously bother him as he yelped when I tried to itch them for him. A female staffer came into my office, and he try to hump her leg. I told him no and he tried to hump her leg from behind (as though I wouldn't see him or something). He didn't really respond to no, but I pushed him off and he tried again a few times. He was determined, but would distract for a minute or two when I called him over with a toy. Volunteer noted 5/3 Tiny Big Brown was easy to leash and remove from his kennel. He looks to be in pretty good shape - healthy weight and a nice coat. He spent most of our outside time sniffing around the yard. I jokingly said to another volunteer that if I didn't know better I'd say he was part bloodhound rather than part shar pei. He wasn't interested in balls, toys, or treats. Each dog handles being in a shelter differently, and I think he is still adjusting. TBB didn't solicit pets from me, but eventually he did sit so I was able to pet him, and he was fine accepting the pets. No issue returning him to kennel.

Story
This beautiful and sweet young girl is Mylah. She is a 2-year old pooch, who weighs 45 pounds. Mylah has a lovely coat of black and white, which thrills us at Mostly Muttz Rescue, as she came to the shelter at just 27 pounds with no hair at all. After several months in foster care, she is a healthy weight and her hair has grown back.  While we always knew she was beautiful, we are now amazed to see just how gorgeous she has become. Mylah is in foster care with other dogs both big and small and she loves to play the day away with them. She is also leash and crate trained.  Because Mylah was food deprived before she came to the shelter, she prefers to eat in her own space without other dogs around. But she does not miss a beat in the area of happiness. Do you think your home might be the place for Mylah? You can apply to adopt Mylah at www.mostlymuttz.org/adoption-application/.  ##400292##

Story
Monty (previously Stanton) is a 2 year old Chinese Shar-Pei/Terrier Mix. He is an incredibly sweet and loving boy, who just wants to play all day. He was recently adopted from the Providence Animal Shelter in Media, PA. He’s up to date on all of his vaccinations, neutered, and has been recently treated for fleas. If possible, I would keep him because he’s a such a sweet, loving boy and anyone can tell that he wants to be a good dog. Unfortunately, Monty is very hyperactive, and also has a tendency to be a bit mouthy during play. He also is not fully crate-trained (though improving very quickly since we adopted him). I’ve unfortunately come to the conclusion that my long work schedule (55+ hrs/week) is going to prevent me from giving Monty the love, attention, and focus he needs to be the best doggie that he can be.

Story
"Pick me!  Pick me!" Cindy is all eager smiles, tail wags and wiggly-jiggly dance moves when she sees folks coming her way along the kennel run. She tries so very hard to make sure you notice her — this super-friendly pup doesn't want to be lost in the crowd! And frankly, not only does this 9 year old charmer NOT get lost in the crowd,  she's sure to stand out! Sporting a lovely deep brindle jacket and a broad, warm smile, sweet Cindy is a bubbly, engaging lady ready to steal your heart. She's always eager to climb into your lap or show off her oh-so-pettable belly as she rolls with delight in the grass. Here's what her temporary foster mom down south told us about her: "Cindy is absolutely loving with every human she's met. She's a little TOO interested in cats, however, so a cat-free home would be best for Cindy." Cindy's foster mom told us she's doing wonderfully there, too: "Cindy loves, loves, loves to be around people! She is a gentle, sweet girl who walks very nicely on the leash. Her idea of heaven would be a home where someone is around the house most of the day, as she's not fond of being crated or otherwise contained ... and she loves having 'people company' more than anything. She's an eager-to-please girl who is great with kids, housetrained, laid-back and mellow." Cindy is dog-selective. She's fine with the foster's other dog but has issues with some others so she would do best as an only dog. Want to learn more?
