Draco was found abandoned at a construction site with injuries indicating he had been hit by a car. Fortunately, Draco recovered and is now ready for his forever home. His calm and friendly demeanor means he often helps train new volunteers. He loves to go on walks, especially in quiet and low-traffic areas. You might see him strolling around campus with a big stuffed toy in his mouth (doesn’t leave the kennel without it). You might also see his signature adorable sploot as he rests under a tree. Draco’s favorite food is peanut butter and his favorite activity is doing the dishes—he makes sure bowls are squeaky clean. Draco enjoys running in the play yard and has friendly interest in other dogs. He is a cuddler, knows the commands `sit` and `come,` and is an easy dog who wants nothing more than a loving family to call his own. Plus, he comes with the most irresistible, adorable forehead wrinkles.

Pecan arrived at the shelter with 18 other dogs as part of a cruelty case. He was very fearful and unsure of his new surroundings. Pecan would retreat to the back of his kennel when approached and did not want to be leashed or touched. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, this sweet boy has really come out of his shell. Volunteers report that Pecan has the most gentle demeanor once he feels safe. He loves to play with other dogs and gains confidence from their presence. Pecan still prefers to approach people on his own terms for pets but no longer cowers away. He`s made great progress learning to walk nicely on a leash. Pecan would do best in a home with adults or older children who will let him warm up at his own pace. He bonds strongly once trust is established. Pecan has endured hardships in his past but never lost his loving spirit. He can`t wait to experience the good life in a home with a compassionate, patient adopter who will give him the happy ending he deserves.

San Jose is always very curious when she meets new people. And she's also excited and very sweet with them. She'll want to give them kisses and nibbles and then become their playmate. When this playful, active girl is calm, she loves to curl up and lay down on top of her foster mom. She also enjoys going for leash walks and is also very curious about what she sees. She does well with dogs who are her size and bigger. At home, she does well in her crate when her foster is away from home. She is a smart girl who is already house-trained and is beginning to learn about obedience skills. Meanwhile, she's happy to play with balls and chew her toys. Come meet this mischievous, lovable girl!

Poli Roli is a couch potato who likes to snooze when she isn't out on walks, outside using the potty, or on a car ride. She likes to chew on toys that are super hard because she can destroy a softer toy or bone in a few seconds. She loves peanut butter treats and is always gentle when taking it from your hands. Her sweet wrinkled face makes us smile and the way she walks when she is excited about something looks like the dogs in a dog show taking their walk around the ring. Poli Roli likes people but needs to get to know them first before feeling comfortable. She would prefer a home with adults and older kids who understand that she likes her space. She is particular about who she wants as dog friends so would do best as the only pet in the home.

Montana is a big baby, he thinks he still a puppy or a small dog, he just wants to be in your lap or next to. He’s very lovable and great with all ages of kids . Our kids range from 0-11 years old. We’ve had Montana since he was about 4 months old. We are unexpectedly moving out of state on extremely short notice and can’t take either of our dogs with us. We are heart broken we’ve all become so attached to our dogs.

Story
Juan was found as a stray on Juanita street in San Antonio. We pulled him from the EU list at the last minute, because he was such a sweet boy. He is young, around 2, and we think he’s a boxer mix, as he has that bouncy boxer trot. He is so friendly and very playful; he loves playing with other dogs and enjoys his collection of toys. He loves kids, but he may be too rambunctious for smaller children as he can be a bit of a bull in a china shop, but he would do well with older children/teens. He’s a funny boy, full of personality who keeps us laughing. He does need some work on his manners and obedience, but he’s a quick learner and a few obedience classes should do the trick. He’s eager to please, and already house & kennel trained. He rarely barks, and is well behaved when left alone. He is looking for an owner who has the time and patience to nurture his energy, and give him all the Loving and snuggling he needs.

Looking for a new home for our energetic, playful boxer. Our 8 year old has yet to grow comfortable with him so he has been crated when indoors. We know this is not the ideal situation for him. He needs a home where he can run and play and hopefully have a family that has lots of time and attention to give him. He has proven to be good with people, kids and other animals. My daughter just has an unwarranted fear of him because of his size. Please contact us if you can help rehome him.

This gentle senior is named, Claire. She is approx. 9years old, 40lbs, and possible Boxer, Lab & maybe Pit mix. Claire left the Harris County Animal Shelter with a severe URI. After ten days on antibiotics she has recovered. Claire is spayed and completely house broken. She was very under weight but this girl has a survivor's spirit. She loves to eat! She's been eating one cup of Blue Buffalo chicken and brown rice dry food morning and evening. (She was getting a little less dry but her foster was adding one third can of Blue Buffalo chicken or beef. She was weaned her off the wet food this week and increased her dry to one cup twice daily.) Claire also loves PEANUT BUTTER. Frozen in a kong toy is a favorite. Claire responds to soft spoken encouragement and loves back and ear rubs. She has very little sight due to cataracts but she clearly compensates with her sense of smell and her hearing. She loves rawhide bones. Lots of soft blankets (she is kennel trained.) The Crate size she has is: 42"L x 28"W x 30"H). She tends to have dry skin but when flakes appear I add 1 tbs melted coconut oil to her food and that clears it up almost immediately. Claire loves to lie in the sun. She is dog, cat and child friendly. Claire is a total sweetheart. She will need gentle, patient guiding through a new home until she gets the lay if the land...then she walks with much more confidence. She would be the perfect companion for anyone who isn't super active. She just wants to snuggle. Claire is living with her foster family in Spring Texas (Northwest Houston area).
