You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!   Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Due to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support.  DOB:  12/26/2011 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Unsure, never met large dogs Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard:  Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello my name is Mamie and I am an adorable, adult female Shih Tzu who is very inquisitive and I love to play whether it be with toys or wrestling around with my foster fur-sibling. I am a bit skittish, I will admit, around things that move quickly, loud noises, and a lot of commotion, but I think you would be a bit nervous too if you only had one eye.  My foster mom puts this antibiotic ointment in my eye twice a day. I’m not crazy about it, but I know she’s doing it for my own benefit and I guess I figure that I should probably get used to it since I may need to have ointment or eye drops put in my eye on a long term basis.  I am a very happy girl and I love food.  I get very excited when my foster mom is getting ready to feed me…as a matter of fact I get so excited that I can’t help snorting! Look, don’t judge me…some people do it when they laugh…I do it when it’s time to eat!! I am not sure how I would do with kids or cats since quick movements scare me, but I’m good with other small doggies. My foster mom and me are working on potty, leash, and crate training.  I don’t like that crate thing or being left alone, and believe me I will voice my discontent.  As for the leash…well it just seems unnatural to walk while tethered to a rope, so my body just stops working…I mean…it just stops!!  I think a fenced yard is the best thing for me since I have not yet mastered that rope! Please come meet take and me to my new furever home so we can give each other the unconditional love I know we both need and deserve.  I’ll be here waiting for you!   Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. I will even take treats from a human if it's meat/chicken/dehydrated liver, though I’m not a fan of regular dog treats. I will follow my foster mom wherever she goes and I don’t wait to see what the other dogs are doing. In fact, I could probably be only dog because I don’t play with the other dogs and prefer to spend my nap time solo. I just need toys to keep me busy when my foster mom leaves because otherwise, I will destroy everything in sight including: beds, blankets, pee pads, and toys.  I still freeze on the leash, so I won't walk yet, but I like being held now and in the evenings, when I am tired, I go to my foster mom and she picks me up. I’ll sleep in your arms as long as you don't move. I have even rolled over for my foster mom. There’s a 1st time for everything. I sure do enjoy a good head scratch too.  I’m quiet, but I can get a little crazy when it’s playtime - who doesn’t? I’ve been known to bark a bit when I hear noises outside. I tend to get a little anxious when my human leaves too. My potty training is going really well!  I go outside and on potty pads, so keep me on a regular schedule and I’ll be just fine.  Like I said earlier, the leash is my nemesis, so a fenced yard is necessary as I can get a little nervous about new noises.  I haven’t been exposed to kids or cats yet, so I don’t really know how I’ll handle them.  I’m a happy girl who is looking for a special family to love. I’d be so happy to meet you to see if you’ve got what I’m looking for.   Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. She doesn't like to be left alone or left in her kennel. She would do best with someone who is at home most of the time. She absolutely loves being held and sitting next to you on the couch or bed. She has never tried to jump up on furniture, but she learned to do the basement stairs very quickly. She likes to wrestle with other small dogs and chew on bones, but she has never destroyed anything. Her potty training is a work in progress. She is afraid to be outside, but with the weather getting nicer, she will follow her foster mom around the yard; however, she is often afraid to walk away. She has started doing her morning business outside but it's not a daily routine yet. She does go 8-9 hours at night without a potty break though, so she knows that. There are potty pads in the garage, so she goes on them sometimes when she doesn't want to go outside. She panics in the kennel but needs to go in there when her foster family leaves, so she won't potty in the house. She does well confined in the kitchen with another dog but sometimes breaks out. She gets a bit defensive when she is with her human and another dog enters her space, but her foster family is working on that and she is getting better. Still, when a new dog is around, she'll growl at it if she is on your lap. She likes to play with small toys and marrow bones. She eats almost anything but is a bit chunky. Gladys has the face of a Meerkat. She’s such a cute girl. She is a bit of a softy, so if she gets scolded, she'll spend the next 15 minutes loving up on her human. Really, that's all she wants is affection from her human. Are the one who can give her that?      Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
