Story
A PRECIOUS, OLDER GENTLEMAN: 14 years old / 15 lbs. Hi, my name is Moses! When Mostly Mutts found me at animal control, it was obvious from my ear, teeth and skin issues that I have not been well cared for. However, Mostly Mutts knew that one of the main things I needed was to know I was loved, so they have made me part of the Mutts family, and I am grateful! They set to work meeting my physical needs and likewise set to work showing me love and attention – two of the best medicines! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown / I enjoy the company of the older child in my foster home, and I do like being petted a bit on my terms, so much older kids would likely be the best fit for me and let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I may be an older gentleman, but I still have some pep and a spunky personality – so don’t underestimate me due to my age! I am a happy guy with a laid-back personality, always sporting a wagging tail, and my foster mom says I have only barked when I smelled lasagna – lol. Please make sure I see you coming before you touch me since I have a bit of hearing and sight loss due to my age and startle if I don’t see you / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I walk well on my leash but be mindful of obstacles on our walks – branches, protruding sticks, curbs, etc. since I can’t see everything like I used to / I was crated some for the first couple days in my foster home, but I have proved to be trustworthy, so they no longer crate me when they go out, and I sleep through the night in my foster’s bed / I’ve not had any potty accidents on a good schedule in my foster home, and generally take care of business as soon as I go outside. When I pant, I am either thirsty or need to go potty. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I loved the attention from the volunteers at the shelter and am certainly enjoying it in my new foster home. Best new folks go a slow with me at first, so I see and get to know you. I enjoy following my people around the house and – though I am not very interested in toys - I do enjoy running around in a playful way with the older child in my foster home / I don’t like hands coming over my head for some reason, so approach me in full view and pet me under my chin. I didn’t like baths at the shelter, but I have taken them in stride in my foster home. • MEDICAL: I have started medicated baths, which already have my itchy skin feeling and looking better, my ears have been cleaned too. I had some ‘old man warts’, and the vet remove the ones they could while I was under anesthesia. I also have very few teeth, but MM’s had a mini dental done for me, so they are at lease their healthiest now. I have a cataract causing my sight to be diminished, but that is not unusual for a guy my age. I get Optixcare eye drops in each eye/2xdaily and should stay on those. I also had a sore on my eye lid that had some suspicious cells in it, so it’s been removed. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a kind family that will open their hearts and home to a precious older gentleman, where I can enjoy the golden time I deserve!
