Polly is a sweet but feisty little girl of about 20lbs. She enjoys long walks around the neighborhood, hoarding ALL the toys, and "talking" at you about anything and everything. Polly doesn't love strangers right away, but it doesn't take much time before she is rolling over for belly rubs and waving her little arms for snacks.  Polly probably wouldn't do well in a busy home with too many children. She is fine with the other dogs, but prefers laid back friends that she can growl at about nothing and they don't care. She wants to steal your couch and your sandwhich all by herself and needs dog friends that will not argue with her, but will stand up for themselves.  She is spayed, vaccinated, chipped and recently groomed. Dawg is a middle aged boy found as a matted, muddy stray. He’s very shy around people, and backs away and does not seek out attention yet, like he's not used to nice human touch. He still shoes away from hands. He's very gentle, though, and has not offered to bite. He tolerated his grooming well. Likes cats and dogs. He wears a belly band in his foster home, as he does tend to pee fairly frequently. Hoping his neuter will help that. He will be neutered 4/6. He needs a dental but our vets are only doing emergency surgeries right now and the clinic can’t do dentals.Please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application!

Story
He was raised and spoiled by an elderly couple. The wife passed away 1.5 years ago and the husband has brain cancer and was unable to take care of Jake as he is living in Assisted Living with hospice care. The daughter of Jake's former parents told us: My parents took very good care of Jake. He is a good boy, sometimes hard headed. He loves his squeaky toys and walks. He will lay beside you but doesn't snuggle much. After he eats and exercises a bit he snorts and rolls on the couch pushing the pillows off. He is a quick learner and routine will be good for him. He isn't crate trained but I would recommend trying it until he has adjusted. He does sleep in the bed. A calm and steady environment is the best for him. And now that he is older and has lived in a calm and quiet environment for so long if possible that would be the best fit for him. He loves to be groomed by a good groomer. It takes time for him to adjust to a new environment. His life has been turned completely upside down. Jake is neutered, about 10yrs old, up to date on all vaccines and rabies If you have a calm home environment and are looking for a mellow companion Jake may be your buddy!
