Story
Meet Deeds! Hes my 15 year old half siamese half maine coon kitty. He was my childhood cat whom I grew up with but due to me moving out in the summer for school I need to find him a new home. He is very sweet and loves to snuggle in bed and be pet, but he does not like being picked up. He is litter box trained and never makes accidents. He is front declawed. Deeds would do best in a house with no other kitties or dogs and due to his old age no young children would be best although he is a sweetheart just a bit fragile. It breaks my heart to have to rehome him but i have no other choice.

Story
Snowball was surrendered to us by his family that could no longer keep him. It took him a little time to acclimate, but he has now come out of his shell and is a very loving, playful, and friendly boy. He has earned the nickname "Rolin", which he answers to, because when he's happy he rolls around on the floor. This gorgeous boy (photos do NOT do this blue-eyed beauty justice!) enjoys to be pet and really likes to be around his people. He will follow you around and meow for attention when he feels he's not getting enough. He's not one to be picked up and held for long periods, he seems to feel confined. You can pick him up, he just lets you know with his fidgeting when it's time to put him down. We are working on getting him to allow us to touch his paws for nail trims, but at this time he is not keen on anyone messing with his paws. He is sharing his foster home with a very gentle and laid back adult male feline, without issue. Rolin seemed a little nervous of the resident kitty at first, even though he was only trying to groom him and be his friend. But now he enjoys sharing his space with the other cat, and even crave the feline companionship, "bro" lounge around time, and play time. We will mention that the other cat must be extremely social and friendly in a non-threatening way, and a male would most likely be best. As we saw him get a little moody when he was adjusting to his new foster home, we recommend no small kids for him as he is acclimating, as they may be a bit too rough unintentionally. We think he would like having older kids to play with, as long as they understand how to be kind to kitties, as he does enjoy the kids that visit his foster family. He may benefit from a bit calmer environment where he can settle in at his own pace, but as long as his family has cat experience and knows how to be patient and help him feel safe, we feel he will do well. No exposure to dogs at this time.

Story
SPECIAL NEEDS**: Dragonfly (aka Nubby) is a sweet girl who has a lot of love to give despite her past trauma. She needs someone willing and able to give her the daily care she requires from the resulting nerve damage.   Summer 2019 she was received by a southern Illinois animal control with an obvious injury to her tail. St. Sophia's was alerted to her status and stepped up to her rescue. Upon arrival she was taken immediately to the vet for care. Unfortunately, her tail required amputation and it was a few days into her recovery that it was discovered she had suffered nerve damage to her bladder and bowels. She requires manual expression of her bladder because she can not void on her own but can eliminate her bowels minus the occasional accident so it's best she wears a cover up. She is used to wearing a washable diaper and is comfortable with being expressed over a toilet then having her bottom wiped. Through all of this though she has remained social, loving and affectionate.   She uses a scratch post, plays with toys of all kinds but really loves her catnip ones and the laser pointer. She has been in the care of a foster family with other adult cats, kittens and small dogs. However, she may do best as the only cat since she prefers only a few of her foster mates. She is approx 2yrs old, spayed, microchipped, dewormed and current on all vaccines. She will also come with a variety of her fashionable bikini bottoms.  **Experience with disabled cats recommended only. Nubby is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, treated for all parasites, and combo-tested negative for FIV/Leuk.  Her adoption fee is $40. For more information, please call or text 847-773-7639 or email info.stsff@gmail.com. ##458180##

Story
Amano (2-3 years old) is certainly a unique looking guy who appears to be a Siamese or Snowshoe mix. His massive head, icy blue stare and one misshapen ear all add to his appeal! It's quite obvious this guy spent quite a bit of time out on the streets, but that just makes him all the more appreciative to be an indoor-only cat now. Because he's been through some rough times, he is a bit timid and nervous at first, but once he trusts you, he's a big baby and wants to be petted and have his chin scratched (he has such a quiet, soothing purr for his size). He seems to do well with other cats that are friendly, but who aren't obonxious or overwhelming (he probably would not appreciate being wrestled or played with harshly). However, Amano has a strict NO DOGS policy for his new home. Overall, this guy is a gentle giant who is learning how to be a sweet and cuddly housecat. A quiet, patient household would be ideal for him to blossom into a confident, affectionate feline.  Now, there is one more thing you should know. Amano has tested positive for FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus), but this will not prevent him from living a long, happy life. The disease can only affect felines and is rarely spread to altered, friendly FIV-negative cats. It cannot be spread by sharing litter boxes, food dishes, playing or grooming. Transmission is only possible through deep puncture wounds (think non-neutered male cats fighting over territories) - but Amano is a lover not a fighter, and is not the type to get into these types of serious scuffles with another friendly housemate. Additionally, he does not require any medicine for his condition, but since his immune system is a bit more suppressed than normal, he has the potential to get sick easier. For indoor cats, this is generally a non-issue as he will not be exposed to diseases and viruses in the safety of his home. Don't be scared by the myths people (and even some veterinarians!) spread about FIV. Take your time and do the research, and make your own decision about whether adopting an FIV cat is right for you if you have other felines at home. Amano is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, treated for all parasites, and combo-tested negative for Leuk and positive for FIV.  His adoption fee is $40. For more information, please call or text 847-773-7639 or email info.stsff@gmail.com. ##608084##

Story
Apollo is our little majestic beast with silver eyes. He loves head scratches and lots of pets. He is very lovable, playful, and has silky gray and cream fur. Apollo is a singer and meows for attention. Sometimes you can catch him meowing "ha-rohhh". He likes to hang around your feet when cooking meals so be careful. Apollo needs a companion and would do great with another playful kitty. He likes to run the halls with our other cats and check out the yard from the window. Apollo prefers string toys and coils, and lounging on the couch with his foster friends. This is a Pay It Forward cat. This means the adoption donation of $250 will help to save another in need of rescue and vetting.Almost Home's Adoption Requirements:Be at least 21 years of ageHave the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the householdHave approval from owner of residence (written in lease)Have a valid ID with current addressBe approved as a suitable adoptive home by Almost Home FoundationBe ready to make a lifetime commitmentLive in the suburbs surrounding Chicago (Illinois Residents only)Pass a veterinarian reference check for current and past pets.Adoption payment cash, check or Zelle onlyIf you are interested in Apollo, please email cats@almosthomefoundation.org or complete an online adoption application at www.almosthomefoundation.org.*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, checks, or Zelle for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
