Story
It's hard to miss Rick when you walk our grounds. He's the handsome St. Bernard/Siberian husky mix sitting expectantly in his kennel for the fun to begin. Rick is originally from Macon County in North Georgia. He has lived in a house, done well in foster care, and would like to settle in a home of his own. At 52 pounds, three-year-old Rick is a fairly big boy. He likes other dogs, knows his commands, and rides in the car so exceedingly well that you almost forget he's there. In fact, as an occasional treat, we drive him around the block. Rick needs an adults-only home with dog-experienced people who can take him for walks and continue his training. He'll repay you with loyalty and love and then some. Come meet him.

Story
Hi, I'm Rowling. I'm about 3 1/2-years old and weigh 70-pounds. I LOVE other dogs my size or bigger, who are calm and easy-going. I'm still learning to trust humans. Humans were not very nice to me in my previous life. So I'm very shy. That's why I must have a home with another friendly, confident, loving dog (my size or larger) to help me learn people can be good. My fur-foster brothers, a Golden/Shepherd mix and a Newfie/Great Pyrennes mix give me the confidence I need to hang out with my human family. My foster family thinks it is cute how I copy the other dogs and have learned to love living in a home from them. I didn't get to play with dogs before, so I don't understand when dogs want to play. That means I need a dog friend who accepts me just the way I am. But I'm not a fan of cats or little dogs though. My foster mom says I need a home where there is more than one person, so I don't get attached to just one...I might become too protective of an only pack member. I'm good with kids, who are dog-savvy and will respect my fears and personal space and not push me out of my comfort zone. For some reason I am a little partial to girls, but I am ok with boys as long as they are not the rough and tumble type. I really am a super-sweet, extremely gentle guy and want to trust people so badly. It's just really hard to unlearn learned behavior. So maybe you can be very patient, loving and calm with me? I am unsure and scared of leash walks, so a securely fenced yard is something I have to have. Dog parks, doggie daycare, dog walkers or dog walking services, wouldn't work for me right now. If you like to travel, a pet sitter who can visit and let me out in the yard to do my business would be just perfect. Eventually, my foster mom thinks I might enjoy doggie daycare too! I am very smart and can give kisses on command when I am feeling confident. You can't help but fall in love with me. I'm so adorable! Because I lived outside on a chain, on rare occasions I might have a wet accident inside even though I do consistently potty outside. So be sure to take me out on a schedule. I love my big crate and sleep in it at night and when my family leaves for work during the day, it's my own safe place where I feel safe (it gives me a break from the humans). I have quickly learned to sit for treats and food, and I am very gentle. And I don't let you forget my "go potty treats" when I come back in the home. My family did a DNA test and I came back a Heinz 57 mix -- that means I'm basically an adorable mix of many breeds! Some American Staffordshire Terrier, some Lab, some Boxer, some Cocker Spaniel, and miscellaneous other breeds. I know my perfect family is out there somewhere, and I sure hope they find me too. Please fill out an application to let my foster mom know if you think you would be a great fit. I need a very special home. Story
Athena is a Saint Bernard Mix and she was surrendered to us when she was young, about 4 months old. She was surrendered at the end of the major socialization period for puppies. She was amazing at her foster home where she lived with small dogs and big ones. She was then adopted but we realized when she came back it was not the type of adopter she needed. Athena is not an overly affectionate touchy feely kind of dog. She is very intelligent and extremely food motivated. She yearns to be taught what is expected of her and simply being corrected for what is wrong without teaching her what is right is very confusing for her. She absolutely thrives with good positive direction! Show her with treats when she’s doing what you desire and she is golden. Physically she needs consistent exercise but other dogs can be over stimulating her. When she’s over stimulated she becomes mouthy out of frustration. She’s still learning self control and how to deal with frustration but she’s rocking learning: leash skills, sitting before jumping when meeting people, taking treats calmly and with no teeth, paying attention, and enjoying playing fetch and sometimes returning said ball! She will surely be a WONDERFUL addition to someone who understands she’s SMART and wants to learn! Thank you for your interest in one of our furry kids! Adopting from Releash Atlanta means you will adopt a dog that has been fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and medically cleared!!
