Story
Meet Dancer! Dancer is a 3-month-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix who weighs about 50 pounds right now - and will only get bigger! Dancer came to us from the local Appalachian Great Pyrenees rescue and is looking for her forever home. Dancer is your typical puppy - lots of energy with no end in sight. This girl is ready for life's next great adventure and can't wait to find the family who will be right there with her the whole way. Dancer is smart and that means she can get into trouble if left alone for too long, but it also means she loves to learn and picks up tricks very quickly! She's already house and crate trained! She's been hanging at the Great Pyr rescue, so she's definitely used to being around big dogs. Her spunky attitude means she may not be the best fit for a family with small children who could be knocked over while Dancer is trying to play. Dancer is waiting for the family that is going to take her on long walks, play with her all day, then cuddle up at with her at night. If you are interested in adopting Dancer, please fill out an application at www.henricohumane.org/adopt-a-dog. ** Adoption events are currently canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org or adopt@henricohumane.org if you have a question about a dog.

Story
Irish is a sweet and energetic boy who loves to be the center of attention. He’s well trained and prefers to play by himself. He’s a healthy happy boy and while all the lady dogs love him, he doesn’t get along well with other male dogs. His best family is one who is active and loves to be outside. Irish is very good with kids, he’s just not really aware of how big he is sometimes and can bump into little ones. He is one of the best pets we have ever had and we are so sad to leave him, but know he will find his forever family soon!

Story
Rebel is a neutered, male st bernard/husky mix. He has the prettiest fur and mixed color eyes (one blue and one brown & blue). He is big, weighs 135 lbs and could use to lose 10-15. UTD on all shots including rabies (vaccinated with everything and examined 3/4/20) House trained & wont even try to get on furniture. Has been fine in crates in the past although he has free roam of our house so hasn't had much experience in them. Loves being outside and going for walks. He does very well on a leash, but will try to run for any small animals you come across. He would not do well in a house with cats or other small pets as he does have a prey drive. He isn't good with some male dogs, but has not had any issues with female dogs. Does not do well with young children as their energy/noise level make him anxious. He hates grooming especially nail trim and hindquarters brushed. When stressed he tends to warn with growls and mouthing, but will snap at you if pushed.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Heidi and her family invited Clancy for an Adventure Dog Outing on Sunday afternoon! He was pretty excited by getting all gussied up in his special harness, a scarf, and his collar with a tag with identifying phone numbers. (Apparently, he’s a rather rowdy traveler in the car,&#239&#191&#188 so Heidi was glad she had extra hands to assist her.) Clancy enjoyed the hike on the trail to Liberty University’s Snowplex area, and we understand he enjoyed the view from the top, and only barked on ce while he was on the trail!&#239&#191&#188 It was definitely one tired pup on his return to the shelter. It’s always good to see how dogs will react when they are taken out in public, and we were thrilled that Clancy had the opportunity for an outing.&#239&#191&#188 Are you interested in adopting a wonderful excited older dog? We think he’s about 10 years old, and we have been trying for literally months to find him a home. His ideal home: a fenced yard, and a doggie door with access to both inside and outside areas. Although we don’t know what his background was, Clancy arrived at the shelter last November in horrible condition, thin, with a massive skin infection which had led to his hair loss, and completely unsocialized.&#239&#191&#188 We speculate that Clancy was kept in a dog lot all of his life, and somehow escaped or was released from his hellish conditions in time to be found as a stray in the parking lot of a local grocery store. Sadly, his companion passed away in the night just hours after arriving at the shelter&#239&#191&#188. This is one reason we are all so determined that he must find a home and have some form of normalcy and love before he also passes to the rainbow bridge. Something about Clancy makes us all work hard to share, and to encourage those looking for a dog to consider him. Clancy is fine with other dogs, but chases cats. He’s been fine with all the humans he meets, and is vocal when he recognize his friends. He will not be a good choice for an apartment, but will enjoy long walks, and will love you unconditionally.&#239&#191&#188 Are you interested? Please start with an application found here: friendsofcampbellcounty.org *****************************************   This happy boy is at least 10 years old, according to the vet office who examined him. He is an intact male, and we are calling him a St. Bernard mix. He has probably never been to a vet before, but he doesn’t care, because attention is important to him whether it comes from a medical office or from a volunteer loving on him. He was successfully treated for a skin infection due most likely to the horrendous flea infestation he had, plus malnutrition, and look at him now! He loves having a routine, and being friends with every visitor and volunteer who comes to the shelter. He is going to be the happiest boy ever once he has a forever home to retire in. His story started out pretty rough, as he was abandoned in a parking lot of a local grocery store, along with another senior who was his dearest buddy. Sadly, his little buddy passed away shortly after arrival at the shelter, leaving Clancy to make the best of shelter life. We worried about how he would handle his alone-ness, but it turns out that he has thrived! Clancy has taken his grief and converted it to JOY! He does not worry about what the future holds, but lives for today! It's the most awesome feature of dogs that have been dealt a hard beginning, being able to put the past behind them and look only at the present. Would you like to be part of Clancy's new life, and help him have many wonderful todays? Start with an application, here: friendsofcampbellcounty.org.     **This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
