NAME:RooSTATS:Male, terrier mix, 1-2 years, 14 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Behaviorally special needs due to the extreme level of his shyness and insecurity about hands. Needs a special home.Needs seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).May show some food guarding issues.Playful, but not overly so.Shows fear of men.Shows fear of women.SKILLS:Doing great with potty training but was an outdoor dog so needs work.Crate trained.Good with dogs.Needs to be with another dog.Good with cats.Would make a great hiking buddy.Has not been exposed to children.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes playing with other dogs.Submissive.Needs patient owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Suggest training (basic manners).ONE LAST THING:Roo was the last pull from a hoarder situation. We think he had no contact with people as he is very frightened of people. We don't believe he has ever really been touched. He is learning to trust. He listens and is really very well behaved. He will not allow you to touch or leash on his own. He would be so scared when you try to pick him up he pees. Roo keeps a 5 foot bubble around him but when he thinks you are not looking he will get very close. He will accept hand fed food. He is really comfortable if he thinks you are not looking or watching him.Roo is very smart. He wants to be a good boy. He wants attention and we believe he will like affection. He listens and watches very closely. He comes when called, but does not want to be touched. He is afraid to do anything if he knows your watching him. He uses a doggie door and loves toys. We are working on harness and leashing. He will not willingly allow you to touch or leash him. We are also working on car rides and confidence. He has come a long way and will only get better. Roo needs a family that will be patient and loving so he can build confidence and become the great dog he is meant to be.
