Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Tiger DOB: 03/28/2008 Weight: 19Lbs Adoption Fee: 125.00 Hey everyone! My name is Tiger. I came from Texas originally. Let just say I am good with just about EVERYONE! Older humans, adult humans, and young humans. I live with other dog friends, children and 1 adult.  I like to be around my other pup friends even if they are big or small and always try to avoid any conflict. I like my time playing with small humans but I don’t need their attention.  I haven't had the pleasure of meeting a kitty yet, so I don't know if I would be friends with them or not! Good news- I am potty trained! I do tend to guard people and I don’t do well with unfamiliar male humans. I need some time in the kennel, usually a couple of minutes,  if someone new enters the home to make sure things are safe and then I can come out to investigate and know it is OK! I love my doggy treats but make sure to put any treats in the palm of your hand so I don’t accidently mistake your fingers for a yummy treat! :) Speaking of treats, I love to chew on bones, so hopefully my new home can provide me with these! If another dog friend has a rawhide though, I may steal it from them, I just love them so much! I guess I would consider myself a foodie because when meal time comes around I get VERY excited, especially if wet food is on the menu. I am pretty fearless and am not afraid of anything! I love to be outside, so walks, running, playing with other dogs at the park are my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy my quiet time. So if you want to take me on a car ride I am OK with that, or I may enjoy my space and take a nap away from everyone from time to time. I would say I am not high energy, but I am certainly not a couch potato! I am pretty smart so I recognize my name AND I know how to sit and stay! Sometimes I can bark, but that's only because I can get excited about things! I am curious and playful but sometimes enjoy being by myself. I would love to find a forever home with other doggy friends, children and has a couch for me to lounge on! I would love to be taken on walks and to be allowed to run outside as much as possible. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! I’m Felix. Although my rescue doesn’t ever advertise breed specificity and is listing me as a schnauzer mix, all who have looked at me agree I look suspiciously similar to a pure bred schnauzer.   I am 24 lbs, about 2-3 lbs overweight according to the vet. My foster mom is working on this and has gotten me down about a pound and half.    I am fully vetted, including just receiving a full dental with extractions and hip and back leg x-rays.  I have had some slight lameness, especially as the day progresses, but as the vet did not see any evidence of disease, she feels that it is more a reflection of my age and being slightly overweight than anything more serious. She estimates I am around 10 years old. Some follow up x-rays may be taken at some point, but even with a little weight off, this has been much better.     The best thing about me is that I am as sweet as pie. I have a calm demeanor, I don’t bark at all, nip or snip.  All I need a is short walk, a sweet friend, a soft voice and hand, and two nourishing meals a day. I will get along fine with all your resident animals, as long as you have room in your heart and arms for me, too. In about 6 months I’ll need another dental check up and my foster mom can tell you the details about that.    I’d prefer a house with no steps and I like to sleep in bed with you, but you have to lift me up and down every time and I weigh almost 25 lbs.   Note from Felix’s foster mom: Felix is a gentle and sweet soul, senior for sure but a heart of gold with love and life to give. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination.

Due to overwhelming interest in Gracie, we are no longer accepting applications. Thank you Gracie and her sibling Frankie were found along the side of a road next to their sibling who had been hit by a car and was deceased. Our partner rescue in Puerto Rico took them in and the are now happy and playful pups who are looking for their forever homes. Gracie is still in Puerto Rico, due to the coronavirus our flight was canceled. Please check our facebook page (Forever Loved) for updates on arrival.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!   Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** VRS 12/24/18 BjacobsDue to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support.  O DOB: 5/25/09 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, prefers similar sized dogs  Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: Unsure Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Meet Watson. He’s a 15 lb, Miniature schnauzer who loves getting attention and cuddling. Things are going well in Watson’s foster home.   His personality is starting to come out.  He gets goofy at times and play bows.  When on the couch, he's quite the snuggle bug. He enjoys fish treats, walks to the couch, and is starting to play with his toy dragon.  Watson is taking Apoquel to help with seasonal allergies and has a sensitive stomach, so he's eating Woody's cooked raw beef and brown rice and doing well with it. He hasn't been tested around little kids, he leaves the resident cat alone, and seems to play well with similar sized dogs.  Since he's an older gentleman, he knows quite a few commands, sit, come, kennel/crate, wait, outside, go potty, stop, and out (like he needs to leave the kitchen).  He's pretty much potty trained but sometimes goes in the belly band.  He is fully crate trained though. He would do great in his forever home with another dog and a fenced in yard.  Watson will tell you what he wants.  He barks when he's hungry or if you go get the mail without him.  He just wants to be with you.  Watson is such a sweet old man, who just loves nothing more than cuddling.  He currently sleeps with 3 other dogs and his foster mama wakes up to his head resting on her.  What a sweetheart! Watson just wants someone to love him and take care of him.  He will make his future family so happy.   Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Story
Background: Charlie was born in Minnesota in March of 2006, he?s 12! Early on he showed signs of being anxious around kids, but was never aggressive. Charlie had an encounter at about a year ago with another dog that was visiting. After that Charlie showed extreme anxiety around new dogs and children. We took him to a behavioral trainer in Golden Valley who showed us how to use positive reinforcement when Charlie showed signs of calming down around other dogs (looking away, blinking, yawning, etc.). We have over the years worked on this. We have found that the best way to get him to be okay with a dog is to start with both dogs on leashes some distance apart. As Charlie gets more comfortable, we bring them closer. This has worked a few times to the point where they can be loose in a large enclosure together. He can be possessive of food around other dogs, but will allow a human to put their hand over his food or take things out of his mouth. We have not wanted to test Charlie around kids after he growled at a toddler playing with a ball. He seems okay with kids when they get to be around 6 or 7. He does not feel comfortable with kids who are close to his eye level. He has not ever bitten another dog or person. He has snarled and lunged, but never actually bitten. We have always been very cautious as we know this is always a possibility. He does take Clomicalm (Clomipramine) for anxiety. He has taken this since 2009 with no side effects. We place it on top of his food in the evening. Despite being anxious, he has always been a really easy dog. He?ll exercise as much or little as you are able. He likes most adults after only a short amount of time. Charlie doesn?t typically chew shoes or damage anything that isn?t one of his own things. Health: Charlie has always been reasonably healthy. He has some mild arthritis, but it?s typically not bad unless he?s been very active in hot weather. Charlie has occasionally started licking hair off his legs obsessively due to anxiety (although it has been several years since this has happened). Eating: He gets 1/2 cup of food twice a day. We have always fed him Nutro Limited Ingredient Lamp and Rice. We have avoided treats with a lot of wheat or corn to keep his bowel movements consistent. He typically has never gotten table scraps, but is a very motivated crumb retriever. Attack: Charlie was involved in an attack by another dog April 1, 2016. He was walking and another dog hopped the fence and attacked him. Charlie did not provoke the dog and likely did not know the dog was there until he was bitten. This dog was a recent rescue with a history of aggression towards small dogs. Charlie suffered several puncture wounds on his leg, side, and neck. We took meticulous care of him and he shows no signs of the incident. Personality: Charlie can be very playful and very affectionate. He likes to run around with toys if he has the space. He can walk around the block or several miles. He?s a very good walker as long as you avoid other dogs. We always use a gentle leader. He likes to jump although age has made this more challenging. He prefers to sit next to someone on the couch. Charlie has slept in a kennel at night, but prefers to sleep at the end of the bed. He is very still at night and likes to be covered in the winter. He is usually pretty quiet if he doesn?t have a reason not to be - like dog walking by the house (although he isn?t the most observant? and covering his eyes gently will work). He does not like smoke detectors beeping and will shake and crawl under the bed. He loves peanut butter and ice-cream. He will drink coffee if left where he can reach it. He likes to ride in the car but not in the front seat. Separation training: We have moved many times with Charlie. He has always done really well. He does not mark or destroy anything. Separation has required some work when the move was more significant. Charlie is used to being left home loose and not kenneled. To get him used to it, we used a progressive technique. We work through the stages of leaving the house one stage at a time progressively adding stages. First we?d put shoes on and then take them off and sit down. Then shoes and coat. Then shoes, coat, and open the door. Next shoes, coat, and open the door and stand outside the door for a moment. We?d basically get farther and farther through the process and stay outside longer each time. He got used to this within a few days. Our last move he did not need this. End of life: Since we first adopted him, we were committed to ensuring he had the best life possible. Charlie needs a new home where his quality of life can be maintained and respected until the end. His adoption fee is $300.
