Meet Crosby. He is a 5 year old schnauzer mix who weighs about 35 lbs. He was a found as a stray and ended up in a rural Arkansas shelter. Poor Crosby was on 'the' list. We could not let that happen and arrangements were made to get Crosby to Nashville. He has obviously been a pet as he fit right in with his foster mom and brother and made himself right at home. Crosby is a vet sweet boy. He is good with other dogs and he loves people. He loves to be up on the sofa with you and follows his foster mom around. Crosby walks well on a leash and he rides OK in the car. He could improve in that area though. Crosby is also housebroken and tolerates the crate. he does not mind being walked on a leash to do his 'business' and loves to go for walks. He could live in a home without a fenced in yard as he is an escape artist and will test any fence to see if he can get out. SO better to be on the leash and mark escaping off the list. This sweet boy is ready for his forever family. He is neutered, current on all his shots and microchipped. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Winston! Winston is a male Schnauzer mix rescued in Georgia from a kill shelter. Our veterinary partner estimates Winston to be 10 years old at the time of intake in January 2020. Winston's right eye had to be removed as a result of an untreated infection, but that doesn’t stop him but slowly exploring and learning his way around the house. Winston is easy-going, content and self sufficient. He is the ultimate couch (or actually crate) potato as he loves to sleep and lay in his crate with the door open, coming out only as he sees fit! Winston is friendly with all people. He is not a fan of his exuberant young foster doggy sibling although we believe Winston would be good with a dog who respects Winston's age! He is not phased by noise and would be okay in an urban setting. Winston is neutered, leash trained and crate trained. He loves s itting in his crate, walking around the apartment, eating and when his foster parents come home. Winston does not like long walks, baths, car rides. We saved Chrissy and her sister Merrie when they were dumped at a high-kill Texas shelter. Chrissy is timid with new humans, and she would thrive in a quiet, suburban or rural home with a fenced-in yard, without children. She needs a gentle, experienced owner and t o continue to build her confidence and social skills, Chrissy should have a well-adjusted, confident (but not pushy or dominant) companion dog. She is high energy, so her canine sibling should be energetic and playful. She is not a fan of cats. This poor little guy is deaf and partially blind and was found as a stray trying to fend for himself on the streets. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC took him in, and he will never have to fend for himself again. We promised Elvis a new home where he will be loved, cherished and allowed to be a member of the family forever. Bosco is a big scruffy pup that loves car rides, going for walks, and hanging out with his human friends. He is very good on leash and makes a great walking partner! He is well mannered and patient, and knows when he needs to wait quietly at your side. He does well in the car, too….though he does have a tendency to try to wiggle his way into the front when my preference is that he ride in the back! So we usually compromise and he stands somewhere in the middle and leans into me;) Which is fine, 'cause he loves his people and is so happy when he gets the chance to get away from the kennel for a while. Even happier if he happens to come across a pond or a lake while he’s out because he enjoys a dip in the water any time of year! Bosco previously lived in an apartment complex with a very nice couple that adored him. They said he was a quiet and low key guy, that just enjoyed being around them. But Bosco didn’t do well with other dogs he met in and around the apartment and he was returned to us. As a result, we think Bosco is best suited to a single family, adult only home, since he does prefer a quiet life. Bosco has been back with us for a while now, and it’s a shame, because he is a good boy that really deserves another chance to have a home and family. In the meantime, he is loved dearly by his friends at the kennel. He takes treats gently, knows some basic commands, and was so well housebroken when he came back to us that he hated to mess his outside run. Zerelda is the sweetest and happiest girl. She is around 12 weeks old and ready to find her furever home. She loves to run and play, and is the friendliest pup. Such a fun girl that is the life of the party. She enjoys yummy treats, belly rubs, and naps, She is going to make the best family companion. This puppy is spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. The adoption fee is $475 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. If you are an MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 10am-Noon. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
