Story
Bailey is a treeing walker coonhound mix- he looks like that breed except his ears aren't as floppy as normal. 6 years old and 64 lbs. He's a friendly, smart, affectionate boy. As a big, active dog, he will need someone strong to handle him; he could use more manners on the leash when he's excited. But he is obedient and knows a lot of commands, such as sit and stay. Our dog walking team is very pleased with him! Good with other dogs. He came from a shelter Oct 11. He has had all his shots, is neutered, and has a chip. He tested negative for heartworm.&#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family? For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section, which has thorough instructions.  All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and  fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records.   Our prices are higher than the shelters' because we nurse the dogs through their illnesses and get them needed surgeries and dentals. We also spend time socializing. Furthermore, unlike shelters, rescues do not get financial aid from the government and must rely on donations, grants, and adoption fees. Our fees start at $150 and go up to $750. The higher end is for our most in demand dogs, such as puppies, young beagles, and hard-to-find purebred dogs. In special cases, for purebred puppies, we may go beyond this and charge $1000. The lower end is for dogs that have been here for a while. The good news is that, because rescues fall under the "charity" category, the fees for our dogs are officially donations and are therefore tax deductible. You can think of it as donating to a worthy cause and getting a dog in return!  The beauty of coming to our Apple Valley sanctuary is that you can see all 90+ dogs.  Email your application and ask for more details. Sponsor Me Beagles & Buddies must find ways to raise money so we can continue saving dogs. Your tax-deductible donation keeps our rescue kennel operating!  Hours Friday:  10 am to 3 pm Saturday:  10 am to 3 pm Sunday: 10 am to 3 pm Monday: CLOSED Tuesday: CLOSED Wednesday: CLOSED Thursday: CLOSED &#226&#128&#139 Weekday appointments may be available.  We are a small staff and do our best to accommodate your needs. Story
Buford is a very handsome tricolor 11 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound, about 50 lbs. He looks and moves like a much younger dog. He's a nice boy, friendly to strangers, and has been one of the calmest big dogs here. His old home gave him up because they found that he needs a big yard to run in. He wasn't happy even though he was getting a lot of walks and would go to the dog park. They said that his two draw backs are that he guards his food (he growls if people come near) and that he is a hunter, and so he follows scents and howls. Other than that, he's a very nice boy who loves being petted and hanging with his people. He loves being outdoors. He's fine with kids and big dogs. He's okay with little dogs as long as he can sniff them- otherwise he barks when he sees them coming. He is prey-driven and not recommended for cats or farm animals.    &#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family? Story
Kentucky is a tricolor Treeing Walker Coonhound, 8 years old and 57 lbs. He has some old  scarring around his muzzle. He's very friendly, active, and can walk on a leash. He's good with kids and dogs. He looks like he's growling in the picture with the food bowl, but he's just eating! He's had his rabies shot and is neutered. Hound-loving family chose him to foster with their young hound boy who is such a sweetie.  They immediately got along very well though Kentucky is a senior and Vernel is a young guy.  They are a good match.  We are so happy he has his own home - for the time being anyway, while parents are working from home.  Who knows, you know what a foster failure is?  Someone who adopts their foster dog....our kind of failure....&#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family?
