Story
All our dogs are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. Senior dogs receive extra bloodwork and we try to do dental cleanings on any dogs that need them. Most of the dogs in our care are crate-trained and cat tested. We test with kids when we can. Our process can seem involved and long - we appreciate your patience. Adopting a dog is not like buying a candy bar in the checkout lane; it should never be a last-minute decision or one that is not fully thought out. ADOPT MEGary is a pure-bread Treeing Walker Coonhound.  He is about a year and a half years old and 54lbs.    He is extremely playful, curious and has a lot of energy.  He really wants your love and attention.    Because Gary was completely unsocialized during his 1st 6 months of life, he has some anxiety around new situations, strangers, and loud noises.  Gary is fine in his home and yard environment but currently gets nervous when removed from that situation, however with training he is getting better everyday.  Gary LOVES his walks but can get stressed and pull on the leash.   Gary would be best as an only pet in the household.  His anxiety has lead to some guarding issues with other pets,  (people are not an issue).  He is great with other dogs when outside.  We currently have him on Prozac and are continueing training and seeking council from a vet specializing in behavour.  If you are currently a no-pet household, Gary would be a great addition.   Gary just completed beginner obedience class at Petsmart and is also currently working with a private trainer on his anxiety and guarding.  Gary's new family will need to have a lot of patience and continue working with a trainer.    Gary really is a sweet goofball of a guy who just needs love and coaching.  Like what you see? Our process can take as long as two weeks (we work day jobs!) so having an already approved application speeds things up considerably when you see a dog that catches your eye.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is GUINNESS and I am a Tennessee Treeing Brindle, which is part of the hound family. I am very unique, handsome, smart and eager to please. If you're looking for an intelligent dog who is easy to train and wants to please then I’m the dog for you! I would love to be an only fur child in a home because some (not all) animals make me nervous. I have to be honest, I don’t have much experience with kids, probably because I’m only just over a year old. However, I don’t mind them when I’m out and about. That's something to discuss later if need be. First thing's first...if you're interested in meeting me let’s make a date!  You won’t be disappointed because I’m pretty darn sweet and did I mention smart?! My name should be Genius! Newton is a handsome 2-3 year old Treeing Walker boy waiting in northwestern Georgia for a new home after being picked p as a stray. Underweight now, his ideal weight will be about 75 lbs. He has an excellent disposition and is very social and affectionate. He is cratetrained, doesn't jump up on people and is doing well with leashtraining. Rector Fletcher is a 1-2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound that wandered up as a starving stray and made himself at home. He now weighs about 75 pounds, and is loaded with personality. He is very trainable and amicable. He is cratetrained and knows “no”, “come”, and “easy”. He is extremely playful and highly food-driven. Fletcher has done well with the other dogs in his foster home and tends to acquiesce, unless it’s about food. He has done well with the 4 year old boy and wants to play, but he will need more training before he can be trusted with little children, only because he does not fully understand his own strength and size. Fletcher would thrive in a home with one or more canine playmates, adequate exercise and a family that understands that he's still a big puppy. He is being fostered north of Winston-Salem. Valerie Jean is a 2 year old Treeing Walker girl that was held by animal control as part of a court case and is now ready to steal hearts! While she is petite at 45 - 50 pounds, this sweet girl’s personality is big. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and is learning the finer points of being a couch potato, house manners, leash walking, and housetraining. She loves mealtime and playtime equally and appreciates all the loving you can give her. She would do well with another dog or older children to play with her. NO cats, please. Valerie Jean is being fostered in the Nashville area.
