Story
2 year old 2 year old Benson per his Starmark trainer: "Benson is a big, goofy, smart boy who is full of energy. He loves to run and learn! He'll play fetch with anything, a ball, toy, or Frisbee. He also loves to tug and will usually bring the tug toy right back for more. He is obedience trained and knows sit, down, place (really good at place), heel, and come. He also knows several clicker tricks (spin, turn, touch, target, hide, rollover, wave, and bow). Benson is crate trained. Tell him "kennel" and he'll go right to it. He loves to chew, so Nylabones are a hit. He needs lots of mental and physical activity to help keep him from getting bored. He likes a good morning rub. He's probably not well suited for children under 6 years old or cats. Overall, he's a good boy and has a lot of potential for the right owner(s)."
As a member of the Lonely Hearts Club his adoption fee is $20.
If you are interested in adopting a new pet from the City of Georgetown Animal Shelter, please fill out an application at https://pets.georgetown.org/adoption/adoption-contract/ and then e-mail it to animalsvc@georgetown.org . This is a temporary change to operations put in place to protect visitors, volunteers, and staff. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment to meet available dogs and cats. Please contact the shelter with any additional questions.
The application/screening process for potential adopters usually takes about 24 hours except when it falls over a weekend or holiday, and then it may take two or three days. We ask that potential adopters please be patient with us; we are only trying our best to ensure that the homeless pets in our care get the best possible home. All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered (as Texas law mandates).
Our adoption fee is currently $70 for non-residents and $75 for residents*.
The adoption fee includes:
spaying/neutering
vaccinations (appropriate to species and age)
heartworm or feline leukemia test (appropriate to species and age)
de-worming medication
microchip (a tiny ID tag inserted under the skin, which allows your pet to be returned to you quickly)
There is a $5 Pet License fee added to the adoption fee if the adopter lives inside the City Limits of Georgetown.
Please visit our website for more information on how to adopt, special events, adoption application, educational and volunteer information.
