Story
Saved in loving memory of Jasmine Bruhin.. This transport is in memory of my precious cat, Jasmine, who lived with me for seven years before tragically passing away due to a complication from cancer this past summer. I rescued Jasmine from a horse barn when she was only just five weeks old. She was so small I could fit her in the pocket of my sweatshirt, which I did often to keep her warm and close to me. Jasmine always wanted to be close to me, meowing non-stop if I put her down, or following me to the bathroom and leaping onto my back and shoulders as I brushed my teeth. She showed her ,appreciation and love for life every day, teaching me to never take a single day for granted.Jasmine was a loyal friend right up until the end, sleeping on my pillow every night, holding my hand with her little paw, and cuddling up on my chest to purr and feel our hearts connect. Jasmine was my special little girl, and I hope her legacy of kindness, love, and optimism can live on through this transport. This is for you, my KitKat. Applesauce (yes, she came with that name and does know it....) was born about February 28, 2008 and weighs about 40 lbs. She came to us as a Terrier mix and with her size and fur I'd have to lean in the Wheaton Terrier arena, but could be way off. Applesauce and another dog were given up to the shelter by family of an elderly woman who could no longer care for them. We were going to take both dogs, but then the shelter informed us that there were some severe health problems with the other dog and that is was a biter and had even bitten the elderly lady so sadly, that dog didn't get to walk out of the shelter with Applesauce. It bothers me so much when family do this...if the other dog had to die then why not do a peaceful death at a vet's office instead of dumping them at a high kill shelter for the shelter staff to have to do and in such a fearful environment. Anyway....lucky Applesauce made the trip north and is doing really well! She uses the dog door with ease, is wonderful with all of us humans and wonderful with all the other dogs. Her fur was a MESS on arrival, we've trimmed a bit, and will try to get it somewhat into shape by the time she leaves. She has had decent veterinary care over the years which was surprising - no real health issues. We are very glad we saved her.
