Story
When George's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) George tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Yorkie/Cairn Terrier mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and George became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 3.5 years old and 18 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match George to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between George and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Farfel's Rescue feels so strongly that our dogs be given the opportunity of level 1 training class that we're unwilling to adopt out to a family that doesn't choose this option. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved force-free trainers in your area. George gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...we're told by the NM vet that George is a Yorkie/Cairn Terrier mix but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy guy that's irresistible! When George turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more George's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for a dog-crazy family for Aiden. He enjoys kids but we'd prefer that they're older as George is a peaceful guy that we feel will appreciate the gentle handling and softer voices of older kids A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy as well. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. George would also do well with a younger family that works from home or just part time. A dog-friendly office would also be a great choice for this very sweet guy. George will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy and well-balanced dogs. We've requested that George be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for George's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Once bonded, George will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. He would enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle but fun playmates. When you're only 18 lbs, even a very well-adjusted dog can be intimidated by larger or rambunctious dogs. . George is an extremely beautiful dog. We've requested new photos of him at his foster home and will update when we receive them. George is so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. He is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. George's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's absolutely blossoming. She's very clear that George will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a regular part of his life. George appears to be a non-shedding breed mix although it's difficult to tell for certain until his shelter-sad coat grows out. George will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care). With this excellent care, George's coat will always be cottony-soft, healthy and matt-free. George will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 3/14/20. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. Our application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting George please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
