Afghan Hounds make great family dogs as they have a friendly and loving nature. Despite their independence, they can be extremely loyal and they love to have fun and play all day long. They are extremely intelligent and flourish in a structured environment. They strive to please their human. Afghan Hounds originated in the Middle East and its ancestors date back to the time of the Egyptian pharaohs. Initially, the breed was used by nomadic tribes.
