Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Tyana is one of several dogs who were found on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. We can only speculate, but we believe that the property owners sold their livestock, moved away, and left the dogs to fend for themselves.  Tyana's mom Lydia is VERY friendly, but her pups (two generations) are completely unsocialized, so we're guessing they may have been born after the people moved. Tyana is very slowly learning to trust me, but she is still extremely skittish of people in general. She absolutely will not walk on a leash. She has a big bark which would come in handy for keeping predators and intruders away. If you are ready to make the commitment to devote yourself to earning Tyana's trust, please go to www.bluebonnetrescue.org to complete our application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I was trying to think of a good way to describe Ivory, and in the background, I could hear Serena Williams giving an interview after her loss at Wimbledon. It occurred to me that Ivory is a bit like Serena -- an athlete who is friendly, disciplined, dedicated, and who won't back down from a challenge. Ivory has the lean build and natural athleticism of an Akbash dog, and she LOVES running zoomies in an open field. She is friendly when meeting new people, and true to the nature of most livestock guardian dog breeds, she reserves judgment on other dogs until she gets to know them. Once she gets acquainted, she can be very playful with other dogs. Ivory is rarely the aggressor in any situation, but if another dog starts something, Ivory won't back down or give in. She currently lives in a foster home with two female Great Pyrenees, a male Anatolian Shepherd, and a male Aussie/Pyr mix. She gets along with the females, but is more likely to play with the males. Ivory likes riding in the car, so if you're looking for a dog who can be your constant companion, going with you everywhere, she might be the one for you. With her good manners on the leash, you can take her places without having her yank your arm off. And with her love for running, she could be your motivation to make that daily walk or run for your health. Now for the less positive things -- Ivory has a bit of a prey drive and will chase a cat if she has the opportunity. She doesn't like being in a crate and will whine and try to escape.  She is somewhat restless inside the house and can be slow to settle down, so it's best to be sure she gets lots of exercise. At bed time, she CAN be trusted to settle down and will sleep happily on a rug or dog bed near your bed, with no worries about potty accidents. Ivory can go over a 4' fence easily, so if you want to give her time in the yard unsupervised, you'll need at least 5' tall fencing, and 6' privacy fencing would be best. If you need a big dog who will be your best friend no matter where life takes you -- city or country, cuddling on the sofa or taking a hike through the woods -- please complete the application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org and tell us that you need Ivory in your life. As that country song says, she's 99 44/100 percent pure love!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Elsa is a pretty girl who came to us from Arizona, as part of an extreme hoarding case. She and the other dogs that were rescued had been left in the field with livestock and not well socialized with people. Elsa is friendly but cautious on meeting new people and she has shown us that she prefers living in the house rather than in the pasture. She has grown quite a bit in her socialization since she has been with us, and is now a friendly and well adjusted member of our house pack. Due to the number of dogs that we might have at any one time, our house can be a bit chaotic at times, and Elsa has shown us that she would do best in a home with a peaceful and quiet environment. Elsa is safe with both goats and chickens, and one of her favorite activities is to go out to the chicken yard with us every day, although she's ready to come back to the house when you are. Elsa does well in a crate, but she is reliably house-trained, so she doesn't need a crate.  She gets along well with other dogs, but doesn't seem to need the company of another dog in order to be happy.  When she has been around puppies, Elsa has been very protective of them, so if you are looking for a companion for a puppy, Elsa would definitely be a good choice. She has been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm tested (negative), so she is ready to go to a new home!  Submit your application on our website today - www.bluebonnetrescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
