Story
Meet Luka, a three-year-old pocket bully with a soft spot for attention and a love for pets! This sweet guy is all about being close to his people, and he's already house trained and ready to settle into a loving home. He's been around kids and does great, showing his gentle side with them. Luka has also lived with another dog and got along well with her, though he's on the cautious side when meeting new dog friends. A calm, mellow dog would be the best match for him if you have another canine at home. He does guard his food around other dogs, so separate feeding is a good idea to keep things peaceful. Luka has even done well with a cat, showing he's pretty adaptable. His previous owner had to make the hard decision to give him up due to life circumstances, but this sweet, attentive boy is more than ready for a new start with a family who'll make him part of their lives. If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.

Story
Meet Nessa, a 7-month-old mixed breed who was transported here from Alabama to find a new home. Her previous foster said She's doing great with crate training, sleeps through the night, and keeps her space clean. Nessa loves playing with other dogs, gets along with kids, and is a total sweetheart with people. She's a quick learner, already pee pad trained, and should be easy to housebreak. With her beautiful gray eyes and a constantly wagging tail, Nessa is always ready for fun-especially if it involves water! She loves cuddles, playing ball, and is eager to please. Looking for a happy, playful companion? Nessa's your girl! Story
Ace is a fun-loving, energetic, sensitive guy who loves to play with toys and be around people. He loves to play catch with a tennis ball!! His previous owner said that he is house trained as long as he is on a good schedule and that he is a very good dog. While he has had some dog friends, he would likely prefer to be the only dog in the home.
