Story
This friend has just arrived to us as a stray. When animals are found as strays, our staff will search for an owner. If no one comes to reclaim the pet, we will begin looking for a new home. Unfortunately, we rarely have a background on stray animals. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with other animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT REINA This big, beautiful girl is looking to be your one and only furbaby! Reina is about 3 years old and came to HAP when her owners could no longer care for a pet. When she arrived, she was missing several chunks of fur and had severely irritated skin. We started her on medication and regular baths, to soothe her skin and she has since regrown the majority of her bright, white coat! Reina is not a fan of other dogs, so the shelter environment can be stressful for her at times, with a lot of barking and other dogs nearby. Despite this, once she is outside and away from the loud noises, she is very relaxed and her true personality shines! Reina is very affectionate with people and eager to please. She knows basic commands and appears house-trained too! **Reina is seeking a home as your only pet. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Story
ABOUT ABBY Abby is a 10 year old pittie mix that loves people! She came to HAP when her owner was in a car accident and no longer able to care for a dog. Abby's previous owners shared she is very well behaved for grooming, such as bathing, brushing, and nail trims. Abby would prefer adopters that are home most of the time, as she has some separation anxiety and cannot be crated. She has spent some time in a temporary foster home, where she loved all the extra attention! Here's what her fosters had to say about her: "Abby has been doing wonderful in her foster home! She is the sweetest dog and loves to give love. She loves playing with her stuffed animals, napping, windowing watching, being told she's a good girl, butt scratches, and sun bathing! She isn't the biggest fan of elevators or loud noises but we make do. She is potty trained which is a huge plus! We've passed many dogs on our walks that bark at her and she doesn't react to them. Oh and she is a huge people person. She wants to say hi to everyone and wags her little butt like crazy. Anyone would be lucky to have this sweet girl." **Abby is currently in a foster home, available for adoption by-appointment! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
ABOUT MOCHA Sweet as chocolate, meet Mocha! She is a 5 year old terrier mix that loves all people. Mocha came to HAP when her owners were no longer able to keep a pet. Although she hasn't been here long, she quickly settled into the shelter and has been quite the volunteer favorite. Whether she's snoozing in her kennel or sunbathing outside, she is one happy girl. Mocha appears house-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. She is most known for her wiggly butt, adorable tip-taps, and the biggest smile we've seen! Mocha has been a star in our Doggy Day Out program. Check out what our volunteers have to say about her: "Mocha was so fun today! She is really good on the leash with hardly any pulling. She enjoyed just sniffing around and loved sticking her head out the car window for fresh air. Her tail went crazy when she saw she was getting a much deserved pup cup. My favorite part is if you ask her for a kiss she will gladly take you up on it. She's a perfect passenger princess in the car and I was impressed with how well behaved she is. Only thing that bothered her were passing dogs, which is understandable because today was all about her. She is such a loving and easy going girl. Hope she gets adopted soon" - Samantha "Mocha had the best day today! She had so much energy and loved saying hi to every person she met! We went on a long walk and she met so many friends. After we had a long nap on the couch. Mocha is a bundle of joy and so lovable. She loves to cuddle up and bathe in the sun! Mocha was amazing today and love to see her again." - Juliana **Mocha is seeking a home as your only pet. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Story
ABOUT MOO Moo is a 1 year old pittie mix that was found abandoned on our property. We tried to find her owner, but unfortunately no one came for her. Without any information, we knew exactly what to call her. Named because of her unmistakable spots and snorting noises, Moo is the goofiest girl around! All she needs is an active owner, willing to provide the endless belly-rubs she's been yearning for. Whether she's curled up in her kennel or zooming around our fenced fields, Moo always has her favorite toys right by her side! Her rough and tumble play-style keeps us all entertained. After she lets her energy out, she is quick to flop over at your feet for some love! Moo is very food and toy motivated to learn, making her the perfect student. She already knows basic commands and walks well with a harness. She is eager to please her friends and sure to win over your heart. Will you give this sweet girl a chance? **Moo is seeking a home as your only pet! If you are interested in adopting Moo, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Story
Say hello to Cody! Cody is an 8-week-old Pit mix who comes to us from a shelter partner. Sadly, Cody was not taken proper care of prior to rescue and is underweight and growth for his age. We’re hoping with lots of love and TLC he will flourish. Cody is currently being treated for parasites and will be started on a high quality diet. More to follow on this sweetheart.
