Story
Bella's a good sweetheart yet protective. She's good with people and kiddos, even todler size. She's not good with cats (likes to chase and attack) and she can't be with other dogs due to jealousy. She's a big sweetheart mostly, but onleash she barks and is protective against strangers. She needs 2 minor shots that are like 30 to 40$ each. Other than that has no shots til april that are due. She is in almost perfect health, just struggles with hips due to age (7yrs). They aren't severely bad, she just can't do stairs outside really. She is sensitive in them, we give her CBD in her meals and treats for hip and joints. I will provide you with food, treats and CBD to last two weeks or more as well as her favored bones and treats. She does like to play, but tires easily and is a BIG snuggler. We can talk more in depth in person or via text/email. I am able to drop off to the rehomed place the 2nd of February. I would like to view the home and meet before any offical adoptions. Thanks!

Story
This is Leroy. He comes from a home of a separated family. One parent moved to a place that doesn't accept dogs, and the other moved to a place that doesn't accept big dogs. Leroy is a 87lb pitbull terrier. He is primarily brendel color with a white chest and white front feet (like socks) and small patches of white on the tips of his back feet. Leroy has been fixed by the previous owner within the last month. We've been working with him on his basic commands. He understands; sit, lay down, shake, stay. He is a fast learner, possible that he hasn't used these commands in a long time or that he is picking it up from my dog's. Leroy can be energetic. He does very well well on a leash. Hasn't shown much enthusiasm for fetching, but gets excited for dog chews and treats. He lived with another dog before us and he does well with our dogs, but has had issues with other dogs.

Story
Crazy for Carly! We at Cortez Rescue have rarely met such a sweet girl. Carly was surrendered to us by a local woman who found her wandering in her neighborhood one day. The woman fed and cared for her for a few days hoping to find the owner but could not. She did find that Carly has such a sweet temperament that it was hard to believe she didn't have someone out there looking for her. After searching, we did find out that Carly was raised in a family but that the family turned her out to fend for herself in the dusty streets of a small Baja town. Though the family no longer wanted her they sure did a great job giving her a head start in life because Carly has the kindest disposition and you will love the way she devotes herself to you. Lucky for Carly she ended up at Cortez Rescue because we are committed to finding her a perfect home that deserves this kind of love and devotion. Born around March 2019, Carly seems to still have a little puppy in her because she is playful and so much fun to hang out with. Carly is currently in foster and her Foster Mom says "she is such a good dog! I haven't discovered any flaws. Carly doesn't make a peep, she does not beg, she is easy to walk and loves tummy rubs. A perfect dog for a family. I am not sure if she will get along with current family pets but she has gotten along with every dog she has met on the beach, even the puppies." If you are looking for a loving companion Carly is your girl. And she loves retrieving on land and sea. She is athletic and energetic but mellow and does not get overly stimulated. All in all Carly is just about perfect. On top of that she is in excellent health. Prior to Carly getting adopted she will receive all of her shots and get sterilized by Cortez Rescue. She has no medical issues at this time and before leaving Cortez Rescue she will be given another full medical assessment to insure she remains in optimum health. Please review our Adopt-a-Pet page for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues. Or call with any further questions you may have about this lovable and delightful pup. Carly currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas.

Story
This is our beloved Chata. There is so much to say about how lovely she is and how everyone at Cortez Rescue is committed to helping her find a forever home. She has had a really rough life but now she is safe and well loved at our Rescue. But Chata is bored. She has lived with us for quite some time and really wants to be out in the world with her person. She should be the only dog as she may be reactive at times. Chata is so eager to please and really just wants belly rubs all day long. She doesn't have separation anxiety, is not a barker or jumper and would be content to decorate your yard with her beautiful face. Chata was born on Dec 1, 2010 and does have medical issues and needs to be adopted locally in the East Cape Region of Baja. Chata has Congestive Heart Failure and has some tumors in her belly so she is literally a sick pup. She takes medication 2 x a day but is easy to administer to. Chata has so much life in her and so much love to give. Could you find it in your heart to help Chata spend the rest of her life in tranquility. Chata currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas. Please review our Adopt-a-Pet page for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues. Or email with any further questions you may have about this lovable and very special senior girl.

Story
This young lady is looking to find a loving home to call her own. She as a transfer in from Columbia County Animal Control after she came to the shelter as a stray, so we don't really know much about her history. We can tell you that the vets think that she is about 4 years old. This girl plays a mean game of fetch and is really friendly with any new person that she meets. She is very treat motivated and we are working on her dog/dog skills at the time. She is for sure going to need a home where she can have a yard to run in and a couch to call her own. We think she would do best with kids that are over 12 years old. We have no clue how she is going to do with cats. If you are interested in meeting Mabel please feel free to email animalwelfare@columbiahumane.org to obtain an application for adoption. Once we have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come in and meet her.For more information call 503-397-4353 or email animalwelfare@columbiahumbia.org

Story
Hey, I’m Bella! I’m a sassy 6 yr old pitty that’s about 65lbs. I'm looking for a home with a consistent schedule, snacks, a place to do zoomiez, and daily snuggle time. I really enjoy walks and car rides! I’d prefer if your hobbies included sharing your dinner, but we can negotiate further after I’ve made myself comfortable. I’m not much for commands, but I get the jist. I will sit, snuggle and kiss on command. Sometimes I can even catch things thrown at my face! I love toys, especially the squeaky ones. I also love visits from human friends! If you're away from the house for over 6 hours a dog walker is a great option for me. I’m an amazing companion that will keep you entertained with my goofy personality! I need to be the only animal in the home, no exceptions. I like kids, but living with them will overstimulate me and I get too grabby with toys so a quieter household is needed to set me up for success. I require adopters own their home and have a fenced yard. You can check me out on Facebook! facebook.com/gruntygoober My adoption fee is $150.00
