This wonderful Anatolian Shepherd mix boy is massive in stature but not in weight (he's only around 60 pounds)and he is tall!. Don't let his size fool you, he's more than prepared to be someone's lap dog. Ziggy is a loving, playful 2 year old that somehow managed to end up in a very small kill shelter located in Middle TN. We can't believe that someone was foolish enough to let this wonderful dog go, but Critter Cavalry is prepared to give this boy the life he deserves. Ziggy needs a fenced yard And to be an only dog.This guy is up for an active lifestyle but will also be perfectly happy with evening walks through the neighborhood and a big doggie bed to sleep on at night. Dory is a Cinderella story of rising from the ashes of a terrible home and hoarding situation in Tennessee to a loving foster who has worked diligently with this Girl for the past 6 months. This girl is a big Hound/Lab mix girl that is just a year old and weighs 60 pounds. She has been slowly learning to trust humans and Has always adored other dogs and now even likes and loves the cats at her foster home. This pretty girl will always have a huge shyness and timidness about Her initial first meeting of new people. You just cannot expect that to go totally away. But what you can see if a loving and sweet fragile soul that has fought Hard to overcome some hardships that came to her early in her life. She is especially fond of children, female humans and smaller framed men that do not tower Over her. She is crate trained, pretty good on a leash, and loves to play ball and with toys that she can do tug of war with. She is always going to be unfolding Like a flower in her life. Slow, methodical and a little progress every month and every year just to keep you encouraged. She does enjoy affection from the humans She is used to being around. She is sweet and friendly and playful and she has a hearty appetite. We got her a Big Barker bed which she sometimes uses but her favorite spot is under the dining room table. She also likes to lie on my foot! I have to make sure the door to my closet is closed or she will steal a shoe or slipper to chew on. My husband gives her a quick walk around the block early in the morning, before 7 AM, and then feeds her breakfast. I give her walks later in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. I often take her to the town tennis courts so that I can let her run around off leash. On a rainy day I also take her to the dog park where we have the place to ourselves and she runs like the wind. I have been very careful with her and have avoided getting near other dogs because she has growled and barked. That made me erroneously think she didn't want to play with other dogs when in fact she did. Peace4Paws provided an excellent trainer who worked with her and introduced her to two dogs he has trained — Sandy did great! She does have a dominant personality and the trainer thinks she finds large dogs more challenging than small dogs. He also thinks that she needs to be around dogs more because she really wants to socialize with them. We are trying to break her of the habit of jumping up to stand on her hind legs and put her paws on us. She just seems playful. We are senior citizens and we are doing fine with it, but we know we have to train her out of that soon. The trainer thinks that it will not be hard to change. She is closing in on 80 pounds and is a lot to manage on a leash; more training is needed. She really wants to follow her nose! She needs a tremendous amount of exercise! So, for us seniors without a backyard at this point she is a bit much for us but for younger, athletic people with a backyard she would be amazing. She is a stunningly beautiful dog and very affectionate!!! ============================================================ Meet lovely Sandy the sweet and friendly 75 lb. Anatolian shepherd. She is a little exotic looking and tall. When she walks down the street she turns heads. She was only 65 pounds when she first came into rescue three weeks ago in KY, and she gained ten pounds since then. For these three weeks she has been mostly in a crate and well fed. She has been able to go out for breaks, sometimes for an hour or hours at a time. She loves to run. She loves exercise. She came into the shelter as a stray, and was pulled out at the last minute. She has been so grateful ever since. She has been spayed and fully vetted. She is intelligent and responds well to training, but will need a little more. Right now she does pull on a leash, but that could easily be corrected with proper exercise and stability. She gets along with all the dogs in the foster. She is happy to walk with other dogs too. She loves kids. She is affectionate. It would be best for her to have a fenced in yard. She really needs that exercise. She is mostly in her crate and appears to do all her business outside. When we first met Marley, she was down in a ditch on the side of a busy highway, mangled and couldn't move. Clearly she had been hit by a car and she needed help urgently. One of our volunteers was the one who discovered her and brought her to the ER. Somehow, her family was located, but they couldn't afford to take on the expenses necessary to save her so they surrendered her to our group. Although the first surgery saved her leg, it became more of a problem over time, so eventually Marley had to have it amputated.
