Story
Awesome Augie is an intelligent, active and deeply affectionate 2 year old, 40 lb Australian Cattle Dog/ German Shorthaired Pointer mix. He is eager to please, adores people and has the classic smarts and high trainability of this great herding breed. When Augie sees you come in the door, he vibrates with joy and looks for guidance on what to do next.
Our trainer feels this clever boy could be a great agility or rally dog. He likes walks and hikes, but most of all he likes to use his brain to learn new things. Because of his herding dog heritage, he would do best in a home without children.
He is no couch potato, but is a major snuggler. After he is tuckered out, you will find him in a puppy-style splooting pose (lying on his belly with his back legs stretched out behind him and his front legs reaching forward, looking like SuperDog flying through the air!)
Augie is house and crate trained, walks well on leash and loves to jump in the car to go on adventures.

Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy, and our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care, so please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested prior to submitting. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health and safety of that dog.
We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering, and microchipping before transporting our dogs. Then, we provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you.
