Story
Boscoe is a very lucky dog. He's lucky because a friend of ours heard about him and raced to his rescue. She had heard that he was tied up in a back yard and the owner was looking for someone to come and shoot him! Why? Because he had the worst case of Mange that we had ever seen and rather than bother to take him to the vet, the owner chose death.Well it was Boscoe's lucky day when our friend went over, cut him from his chain and rushed him to the vet. It has been a very long healing process and he does have some scarring from the severity of it all but we think he is perfect and very handsome! Boscoe is approximately 2 years young, neutered, micro-chipped, crate trained, house broken, heart worm negative and ready for his forever home! Boscoe loves to play with all the dogs here at the rescue including our pesky Chihuahuas! He is just a joy to have around but as much as we love him he needs a home to call his very own. Could that be you? Before pictures available on request. WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE SO THERE WILL BE NO MEET AND GREET. WE TRANSPORT TO YOUR STATE. ADOPTION FEE $450

The number of individual inquiries is overwhelming and we are finding it difficult to respond to each one. We cannot guarantee you will receive a timely response.Paws New England is a rescue, not a shelter, and as such we do not have our dogs housed in one location - they are in foster homes both in New England and in our southern foster homes.   If you're interested in a specific dog, please complete a short online application and you will receive a reply within 48 hours so you can ask questions. At present, if a dog is listed on our website, the dog is considered still available HOWEVER, may have applications that have come in before yours but it's still too early to know if any are a good match; therefore we encourage you to apply.NOTICE WITH REGARD TO LOCATION OF DOGS:  Please note: Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. We do not have a brick and mortar building to house the dogs we rescue. We have found that dogs in foster homes are much more adoptable because they have been observed in a home setting. Dogs listed with Paws New England typically reside in various locations throughout the south (primarily Tennessee, Texas, and Arkansas) and New England (not necessarily in the state of Rhode Island). You will be notified by the adoption coordinator of the location of the dog you are interested in so you have the ability to decide whether to pursue adoption or not.Dogs transported to New England are done so at a fee of $150.00 paid directly to the transporting company by Paws New England; no additional transport costs are responsibility of adopter. This fee is included in the adoption donation.Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your dog will help others in need. All known information about the animal is listed above. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history.Paws New England abides by the dog importation regulations set forth in the states of MA, CT, NH and RI.

Story
FOSTERING LOCAL IN NEW ENGLAND!!!Kyrie is a stunning 4 year old heeler mix who is looking for her forever family! Kyrie had a sad past being let down not once, but twice by people who were supposed to care for her. She came to the Texas shelter in April as a pregnant stray and within 3 days she gave birth to 5 puppies. She was a great mother despite difficult conditions at the shelter. Her pups were adopted out and in June she found a family of her own. What was supposed to be a happy ending turned out to be a bad situation. Two months later Kyrie found herself at a different shelter, surrendered by the adopters and this time she was emaciated weighing only 22 lbs and very anemic that we were worried she might not pull through. We happened to be at the shelter pulling another dog when she came in and immediately pulled her into rescue. She has been nothing but a joy to be around and we hope someone will see just what a treasure she is.She has blossomed in her foster home, is very friendly and affectionate with people. It was wonderful to watch her personality emerge and her playfulness return.Kyrie relishes her food. She gets along with the two small, older dogs by ignoring them. She will need a slow introduction to other dogs because she is initially shy with other dogs, but once she is used to them she does great. Kyrie loves to go for a walk and does well on the leash. When outside the fence, she doesn’t run away, and comes when called. She would do well with another dog that is her size or larger. She would love to have a buddy to play with. On our walks, when Kyrie sees a cat or squirrel she wants to chase it so while she is not currently living with a cat we are making the assumption that she would like to chase them. She is house trained. She has slept in a crate, whining a bit at first, then sleeps fine. She’d rather sleep in mom and dad’s bed.Kyrie has been around the foster’s grandkids, ages 3, 8 and 10, and she does fine. She loves to run after a ball or toy. She can run fast and is very agile. She is intelligent and may be a candidate for agility training.Kyrie would do well with an active family who will give her the attention, love and the patience she deserves. With a little training, she would be a cherished member of her forever family!Name: Kyrie (Valkyrie)Sex: FemaleBreed: Heeler mixAge: approx. 4 years Old Weight: approx 43 pounds but should be closer to 38-40 pounds (it is her NY resolution) Vaccinations: Up to date as of 9/1/19Heartworm: negativeMicrochipped: will be prior to transportMedical: Kyrie is a distemper survivor. She has a slight jaw twitch as a result of neurological damage from distemper. BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Dogs: Yes. She is currently fostered with 3 other dogs and after proper introduction (she is initially a bit shy), she loves to play with them. Cats: No. Kids: She did fine with visiting kids who were 3, 8 and 10 who are dog savvy and respectful.Adoption Donation: 450.00IMPORTANT INFORMATION:Interested in a specific dog, please fill out an application if you are interested in a dog.
