You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me! Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting. If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Due to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support. DOB: Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: See bio, prefers female dogs Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hey there, I’m Aleck and I’m a sweet, loving 18 lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I have a playful spirit and my foster mom absolutely adores me. She says that I am an amazing dog. What an endorsement! Since I’m a distinguished senior boy, I can be a little stubborn, so some patience with me will go a long way. I do adore people and just hanging out. I especially love it when you talk to me that I wag my tail excitedly. The sound of your voice is music to my ears. I am full of energy and I also enjoy children. I must say that I have not experienced a small "wild" child, but I have met a few 5-8 year olds and I was immediately enamored with them. My favorite thing to do is nap! I like to snuggle with my foster sister too. I LOVE toys and will get really crazy with a small, soft toy. At home, I prefer to be wherever my foster mom is. As long as I know where she is, I’m happy to do my own thing. Away from home, I am pretty nervous. I like to either sit right next to my foster mom or find a hiding spot. I am working on this, though! I’ve even started approaching strangers for pets, so I’m getting better. I’m around other smaller dogs in my foster home, but don’t really know much about larger dogs and I do not care for male dogs either unless they give me some space. I have growled and snapped at male dogs who get in my face. I do extremely well with female dogs, though. I’m great with cats as well. I do have chronic dry eye which requires some cleaning and application of an ointment, but I sit still like a good boy while it’s taken care of. I also have a heart murmur, but I don’t take anything for it and frankly it doesn’t slow me down, like I said before, I have bundles of energy. Thank you for stopping by to read about me. I am on the lookout for my very best furever home and I know it’s out there. I have so much love to give in return for your love. Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
