Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fee is $400-$800. if a biography does not otherwise say then it is $400. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescueAdoption Fee: $400 Brady is a 4 year old Italian Greyhound-ish mix who was described by his current foster as “the most charismatic and personable dog” she’s ever fostered. He weighs 9lbs. His high energy and able to tune in to human emotion mixed with his sparkling handsomeness (these pictures don’t do him justice!) makes him a perfect dog for dog-savvy owners who are ready to give him the love and attention he so deserves. Brady was a rescue from the shelter. He was hit by a car, seemed to bounce right off. He was taken to emergency and they didn't find any serious injuries--Thank heavens. The shelter kept him for a few weeks to monitor him. He's been with us for a few weeks and he's happy, healthy and ready to rumble! Brady does well with all humans - big or small. He seems to be able to “read the room” when it comes to people’s personalities. If his current foster’s friends are wary about dogs, Brady will mellow out. If they are high energy and want to play, Brady is all in! He has such a fun personality. His current foster told DPS Rescue volunteers a story about how they were teasing him a bit before bed, and he turned his back on them and refused to look at them anymore! When he’s not upset because he’s being teased, he is a total cuddle bug. He is so content lying on your lap or next to you while you’re doing work, and once you’re ready to play, he’ll be ready too. In this time of Sheltering In Place, do you find yourself binge watching more TV? Are you on the computer working from home? Well, guess who wants to join you and would be an excellent candidate for snuggling and cuddling under the covers or warming your feet under the desk? Yep, our Brady. To be a perfect forever home for Brady, you’ll need to be dog-savvy and able to match his energy. He currently takes three walks daily, and his foster also gets some indoor exercise in by throwing bits of kibble across the room and having Brady run after it! Oh yes, he is very food-motivated, which is a great thing if you are experienced with dog training using treats. He already knows how to sit and be patient and not eat until he’s allowed to do so. He’s also learned that begging at the table will not get him any human food! Brady is learning how to properly greet other dogs on leash, and his current foster is working with him on this element. His forever home will need a strategy as well to continue working on his leash manners. He is a friendly dog who will thrive with supportive and firm behavioral training! Brady is only an option for those who have had a dog of their own in the last 5 years or who grew up with dogs their entire life and know the ins and outs of dog behavior. If there are children in the house they need to be over 8 years old.
