Rescue FAQs

CC4C is an all-volunteer, non-profit cat rescue organization in Contra Costa County that offers abandoned and homeless cats from the streets medical rehabilitation, spay and neuter services, and foster care and adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats through an effective trap-neuter-return program, and when possible, kittens and cats are fostered, socialized, and are adopted out to loving homes through our weekly adoption events. We are supported entirely through donations from the public and fund-raising, and grants.

Our members, fosters and volunteers work hard to make a positive difference in the lives of the cats we meet and in helping our communities.
What We Do

Reduce: We reduce the number of homeless kittens born each year to feral mothers through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs.

Rescue: We rescue cats and kittens from junkyards, parking lots, fields, streets, parks, and other unsafe places to be a homeless cat (or worse, a motherless kitten!)
Rehabilitate: We provide cats and kittens needed medical care, spay and neuter, foster care, and socialization in preparation for adoption. Because these cats are in our homes (not in cages at a facility), our members and fosters know each cat’s personality and temperament and can match you with your perfect feline friend.

Additional adoption info

CC4C’s adoption program is designed to match each cat with a home that it will have for the rest of its life. Adopting a cat is a lifetime commitment and CC4C wants to make the best possible match for you and your future cat. CC4C strives to provide you with many helpful resources and information about cat care, food and nutrition, health, house training, etc., that you can take home with you and use as a guide to help with your new kitty. The adoption process takes time, so please come early to our adoption sites to work through the process and paperwork. Our CC4C members will work with you to find your perfect match in a cat. Remember, the time you spend getting to know your new cat is well invested, since your cat will live with your for the next 15-20 years. What cat is best for you?

We prefer that all family members living at home participate in the adoption process to ensure the best match. CC4C does not do third-party adoptions (e.g. a gift to another person), but does encourage friends and family members to browse and ask questions if they are helping another to find a companion.

You may download and complete an Adoption Application in advance. Forms are also available at the adoption sites.

To research which CC4C cats are available for adoption, please visit our Available Cats page. Please note that not all of our cats and kittens are posted here, especially during kitten season when we are overwhelmed with new kittens. It is always best to visit the adoption site and speak with a CC4C member to find the cat or kitten that best fits your needs.

Adoption Fees:

Kittens (under 1 year of age) are $125 for the first, and $100 for an additional kitten.

Cats (over 1 year of age) are $100 for the first, and $75 for an additional cat.

Senior Cats (from 7-10 years) are $75 each, and over 10 years is $50.
