The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.
The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.

Adoption fees:
Cats 7 years and younger: $75
Cats 8 years and older: $50
Kittens (under 6 months): $100
Dogs: $125
Puppies (under 6 months) $200

All applicants will be asked to submit the names and phone numbers of 3 personal references (relatives don't count), the name and phone number of your veterinarian if you have one, the name and phone number of your landlord (if applicable) and information about your current living situation. We also require that all immediate family members meet the animal prior to adoption to ensure compatibility. We would hate to adopt an animal into a family and later find out the dog doesn't like the kids or the husband doesn't like the animal, etc. You can print out an application on our website at maxfund.org.
If you are interested in adopting a dog and have filled out an application, MaxFund will ask you to bring any currently owned dogs to the shelter for a “meet-and-greet” to ensure they can stand each other before they become a family. Because we examine adoption applications carefully and contact all references, same-day adoptions are extremely rare and should not be expected!
