Rescue FAQs

Prison Pet Partnership enriches the lives of inmates, homeless animals and the community through the human animal bond. We adopt dogs from shelters, rescue groups and individuals in need of rehoming their dogs with the intention of placing service and therapy dogs at no cost to members of our community on our waiting list. A large percentage of the dogs in our program do not make the cut as an assistance dog and we adopt these kiddos out into the community as pets! We will adopt dogs out to any county, and have even placed dogs in Oregon, California and Canada. We try to require a home visit if possible, so closer placements are easier but not restricted.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee varies depending on the skills of the dog we are placing, how far they got in our training program etc. We require that adopters fill out our application (found on our website). We do not place dogs with the first applicant as the first served ... we weigh all options for our dogs and want to pick the best fit so the match is perfect! We typically do a home visit, and call a potential adopters previously used veterinarian to inquire about the individuals habits as a pet owner.
