Heart of a Border Collie Rescue

Dog rescue in Ada, MN

We are a group of volunteers committed to rescuing Border Collies and Border Collie mixes. We are concerned about Border Collies having a safe place to go where they will be properly evaluated, housed and cared for while awaiting their forever homes.

We are also committed to partnering with other Border Collie and herding breed rescues so we can all work collaboratively to provide a safe place for dogs in need.

There are no paid positions and all volunteers do this work for the love of the breed. All dogs live in foster homes, in the house with their families. We do not pay ANY volunteers, including board members, for boarding and care. ALL donations go DIRECTLY to the care of the dogs. We are always looking to welcome like-minded fosters and other volunteers to partner with us and bring new ideas and initiatives.

Additional adoption info

All adopters will need to fill out an application to adopt and provide 2 personal references and a veterinarian reference. After references are contacted, if the board feels the dog is a good fit, a meet and greet will be scheduled. If that goes well, a home visit will be scheduled and the adoption can proceed.

Adopters must sign an adoption contract and will pay a fee $350 + MN tax for puppies under 6 months old or $300 + MN tax for dogs 6 months +.

Most dogs will require a physically fenced yard. Other requirements will be listed in the dog's individual bios. No dogs will be adopted as outside dogs. Dogs must live in the home with their families and be incorporated into daily life. Border Collies require an extraordinary amount of physical and mental exercise. Please be specific about how you plan to keep your border collie active and engaged.
