Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Status: AVAILABLE Introducing Dane This handsome boy was originally found as a stray in Alabama with two of his littermates and transferred to our rescue where he has been in a foster home in St. Paul, MN. He has been In our rescue since August 2021 and is patiently waiting for his forever family. Dane is now a 2 year old while and black Great Dane/Mix. He has been a healthy and active young boy. He knows some of his basic commands, is potty trained and continues to work on his manners. He can be shy/nervous around stranger and needs slow introductions
Dane enjoys playing with other dogs of a similar size and energy level-he is quite an exuberant player and would really love a buddy or two to play with in his forever home.- He loves spending time outside exploring and burning off some energy. Cuddling with his people is another favorite activity. He is a great "lap dog"
Hard Requirements For His Forever Home: No cats or small dogs due to high prey drive. His adoptive home must have a physically fenced in yard. If there are kids in the forever home, we ask they be at least 10 or older. Continued basic obedience training will take this boy far!
Dane is a sweet, affectionate and goofy, high energy, young boy. If you feel you may be the adopter that can offer Dane the calm home and further training he needs, this is what you need to do:
- If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Michelle at michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about Dane. - If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you could be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process.

More about this rescue
Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.
Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
