ABOUT TIVA Looking for an active beagle mix? Meet Tiva! This little ball of life is a 2 year old beagle/terrier mix with energy for days! She came to HAP on a rescue flight from high-intake, southern shelters. While she hasn't been with us long, she quickly settled in and showed off her goofy, playful personality. Tiva enjoys going long walks and playing with toys. She is also super smart and very food motivated to learn. Tiva already knows basic commands and appears house-trained too! **Tiva is available for foster or foster-to-adopt at this time! In true beagle fashion, Tiva loves to use her voice, so renters are encouraged to consider this if you have nearby neighbors. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Lea is one of the dogs we took in from a hunting club down south. All of them have always lived outside and, sadly, all are heartworm positive. Lea is an 8-year-old Beagle who is currently undergoing heartworm treatment.  Once that is complete she will be spayed, mass removal, and have a dental cleaning.  Lea is taking amazingly to indoor, family life.  In the short time she has been with her foster family, she has become crate trained, house trained, learned to navigate steps, and how to enjoy the love of her humans.  Lea will melt your heart when she looks at you with her gorgeous dark brown eyes and beautiful white eye lashes.  She would do best in a house with another dog or dogs to continue to help her learn all of the joys of being a pampered pooch.  She will need a fully fenced yard, at this time she is unsure of herself on a leash and will not do her business while on a leash.  Lea has shown many signs of wanting to play and recently her foster mom has woken up to chewed up doggie toys.  She learns quickly, and is extremely food motived.  Lea is eager please her human and be told she is a “good girl.”

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Almost two years ago, our foster dog Bella found a home with a great family.  Unfortunatley, Bella developed behavior problems and would not get along with the family's other dog.   This forced the family to return Bella to DMPR.  Bella is now looking once again for her forever family. Overall Bella is a great dog with some issues that can be resolved if her new family is committed to taking her to an obedience class.  Bella needs to learn boundaries - when she is given too much freedom, she becomes a high-maintenance diva (or simply put, a brat).  Bella does know some basic obedience commands.  She will sit and come on command.  She also knows when she is doing something wrong - her foster mom will look at her and say in a low voice 'Bel-la' and Bella will stop what she is doing and look at her foster mom and then drop her head low (like she is ashamed she was caught).  However, this is not ideal, as it would be better if Bella didn't do the 'bad' stuff in the first place.  (Bad stuff includes - jumping on the bed, growling at the foster mom's other dogs when there is food out, and jumping on people).  What Bella needs is consistency - she needs to be taught what is the right thing to do, so that she gets to hear lots of 'Yes!  Good girl!'  Bella loves to be with people - she so wants to be a people pleaser.  Her foster mom thinks that positive reinforcement training will go a long way with her.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
We took in five dogs from a hunting club down south. All five have always lived outside and, sadly, all five are heartworm positive. We are dedicated to the medical needs of them all, seeing them through a successful treatment and placing them all in safe, loving homes. Finally, they will get to live indoors & be part of a family of their very own! We look forward to following their journey & will provide updates as we get to know them. Xander is 8 to 9-years-old, up to date on vaccinations, female dog friendly (sorry boys) and will be neutered & microchipped prior to adoption.

Story
Blind Dog Rescue Alliance will transport within reasonable distance. Gentle Indi is being fostered in South New Jersey. What we know about Indi: *loves people *housebroken *gentle guy *would do best as the only dog What Indi's foster home has to say about him: Indi is an amazing senior soul. He is a loyal love bug that gives new meaning to Velcro dog! And he is an incredibly smart guy, his superpower is to accurately predict where you are walking or planning to walk, and Indi will stand between you and your destinations. Indi is extremely loyal and will follow you around everywhere you go. When you sit down, he will go to sleep. He is an awesome power napper! Indi can sleep for hours at a time, and this is his second super power. Indi’s favorite sleeping area is a large orthopedic bed. When Indi first came into foster care he had a lot of pain and had problems walking. He is now on pain meds and has a very adorable swagger. He also has spinal stenosis that causes hips to sway when he walks. Indi has a heart murmur which is a leaky valve. He came to us with a cough caused by his heart murmur, and so he is on meds that are helping his heart (and that will need to be maintained for the rest of his life). Indi wears a belly band because his heart meds make him thirsty and we think the pain meds keep him from feeling when his bladder is full. Indi is full of personality when he comes inside from potty, he demands a treat for going out and getting his belly band on. Indi is so smart, that when he goes out to potty at night, all his foster dad has to do is shine a flashlight and he will come trotting back to the house! Indi does do well with other dogs but we think he would also love to be in a home where he’s the only dog and the center of attention, so he can soak up all the love you can give him! A little bit about his background: Indi’s family moved and left him behind. The neighbors were feeding him before they called for animal control. Indi ended up in a vets office, who reached out to rescue. We were told that indi was blind when he came into rescue; however he can see just fine, although we do think that he is deaf. Blind Dog Rescue Alliance has voted against the use of electric fencing effective immediately.

> If you are interested in Gracie, please email os@blinddogrescue.com. Please note we will ask for a vet reference. Name: Gracie Age: 4 years Breed: Lemon Beagle Sex: Female (30#) Location: Fayetteville, NC Vet Information: None. Unable to take to vet a present for financial reasons. Gracie is being taken care of by a family since the owner passed away. They took her so she wouldn’t go to the pound. The family reports the dog is spayed but unable to verify with the vet. The family reports their vet won’t see Gracie until they finish paying for the for a surgery done on their other dog. Owner reports “She (Gracie) has health problems, limited sight, hearing and seizures, an urinary tract infection and she’s not completley housebroken, we are not able to afford her any medical care.” Gracie is an indoor dog that is leash trained but not housebroken. “We tried to housebreak her but no one is home during the day. I’m still paying the vet for our senior dogs dislocated hips and the vet wont let me do anymore payments till our bill is paid.” Gracie is reported to be shy, good with adults, teenagers, younger children and male dogs. Gracie currently lives with an older male dog. “When we first got her (Gracie) she snapped at me and by daughter if we held her too long, but now she likes to be held…She is so sweet and loving, shy but full of love and never barks or jumps on people. She is not a licker but she loves to be pet. We love her and want what is best for her.” Does anyone have room for sweet Gracie?
