Story
Rio is a 7 yr old beagle mix. He is a very sweet dog. We adopted him about 6 months ago from a kill shelter (out of town) He was skiddish at first, but after a few weeks, he started to come around. He loves to go for walks, he likes to play fetch & loves loves loves to cuddle! (He's a bed hog, too!) 😆 Rio does ok with other "female" dogs, but has been known to be a bit snippy with other males. Rio also doesn't want cat's around. (He will chase them, every time) He's been great around our kids & grandkids (no issues there) We just have to rehome him bc of my husband's health issues! (leg amputation) If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! 😊

Story
Miley is a very cute little beagle. She was my ex-fiancé's dog. When we decided to end our relationship, he was going to take her to the pound so I decided to keep her. Since then she isn't getting along with my dog, so it would probably be best if she was the only dog, unless you can help her overcome her issues. I am willing to keep her as long as it takes to find her a good home where she will be loved and cared for. She is prone to ear infections, so she takes medicine daily in both ears. I still have some that I will give to her future owners. She loves to play with toys, doesn't walk on a leash very well, and will dart out an open door if you give her the chance. She's a little chubby, so she doesn't get too far before she tires of running. She is used to having a fenced in yard, so I'm hoping her future owners have one as well, but it's not a must, I just can't say how she'll do otherwise. She doesn't bark much in the house, unless she sees something outside.

Story
Cory is an adult beagle mix of some sort. He weighs roughly 40 pounds and he's very strong. Cory loves cuddles and is very mild mannered. He is great at gauging the playfulness and strength. ***Background: Cory was found wandering an apartment complex. The woman there said she found him wandering the streets but she couldn't keep him, so my husband brought him home while we searched for his owners. He seemed to know humans, and was happy to have a home, but he seemed different. Two years later, we have discovered that Cory suffers from extreme separation anxiety and depression. He is doesn't like to upset anyone, but when left alone, he gets into things, and he can't be caged- it terrifies him. We've been struggling with Cory since we found him. Cory is VERY strong, dragging me on his leash, and moving cinder blocks from the fence with ease. He needs someone that can handle his quirks, keep him safe from himself and love him better than we can.

Story
Max is about 10 years old. Max's human Dad passed away. He has a cyst that he needs to have removed and need to be fixed. He has had pre-surgery blood work done already to have cyst removed. I do not have the 500.00 to cover costs. He also has a mass on his upper gums but it isn't bothering him so we decided to let it be.

Story
Paula is a 2-3 year old Beagle mix that weighs less than 30 pounds. Paula came to our rescue from a hoarding case in Kentucky. Upon arrival we quickly determined she was quite ill and she was rushed to the vet where exploratory surgery was scheduled and two foreign bodies were found. Most likely ingested due to starvation. Thankfully she has recovered and her surgery incision healed nicely. Paula is a sweet soul who needs a patient home that will allow her time to get to know her family. She enjoys the company of other dogs. She loves to explore her backyard and a privacy fence is prefered. Paula is currently penned trained in her foster home. Due to Paula's past she has developed an intense need to have water, this is most likely due to lack of access to water, we've determined this to be behavioral and she is on a medication to help her. Due to this behavior her access to outside for frequent potty trips is required or appropriate potty pads can be made available for her. Paula's start in life may have been rough, but her future is bright. She is a happy dog. She loves her sister Deena and they often play and wrestle together. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here: www.heartlandsmallanimalrescue.org/canine-application.html
