Story
Loooook into my eyesssss. That's it. No hocus pocus here. Just want you to see these baby browns! My name is Cooper. I'm a six-year-old Boxer / Beagle mix that was rescued by this awesome family about 5.5 years ago. Unfortunately, though, old habits die hard and despite my family working with a trainer to correct my resource guarding, they admit they haven't been consistent with it and, well, I need that structure or I fall off the wagon. Are you ready for a list of all the GREAT stuff? Check this out.... I'm treat-trained and will sit, stay, come, spin, give paw, and lay down. I love to have my back rubbed, be petted, am sweet, loving, calm, cooperative, walk great on a gentle leader collar, and I like to jog with you! Also, I'm really smart about sounds. I know the sound of familiar car doors, cars, and people on my current street and I will let you know when I hear something unfamiliar cars or voices or when someone knocks on the door. Otherwise, I don't usually bark at things or because I hear other dogs barking. Maybe a single parent would be best for me. If not, a house with no other dogs and adults-only would work, or one where the kids are much older would be best. It's best that I'm not let onto the couch or the bed because of my resource guarding / pack dominance tendencies. Don't let that dissuade you from adopting me, though, I just need someone who is willing to stay on top of making sure I know my place. Will you please consider giving me a chance? I'm neutered, up to date on shots, and heartworm negative. ] He loves to be petted and have his back rubbed. It is recommended not to let him on couches or beds, due to his resource guarding/pack dominance tendencies. He is microchipped, has been neutered, and is current with vaccination. Weight? 35-40 pounds He is very well potty trained (will scratch at back door). Does not need to be crated - he does best having his own dog bed on the floor and will not have potty accidents in the house. In fact crating him can lead to aggressive tendencies where he will guard the crate. Cooper likes chewing on dog toys and dog bones, but does not chew up other stuff that he shouldn’

Story
Hello! My name is Ryder. I am about 5 years old and a male Beagle/Cattle dog mix. From where I started, I have come so far and have turned into quite a great companion though I am still shy at times. Mostly when I am in new situations--therefore I am looking for a family who would like a companion at home. I am not a get out and see the sites type of guy. In those cases where I am shy, I just retreat to a safe area. I am great with other dogs and do well with cats. I love to explore the backyard. I am happy and enjoy some love an attention, it's just usually when I ask for it. I am house trained and crate trained. I am up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped! Story
Buddy  Buddy is a senior beagle mix, about 25 pounds. I’ve been his foster mom over 2 years. He’s a great little old man. He’s super quiet and chill. He LOVES car rides. He gets in, lays down and chills the whole time.  He’s housebroken. He doesn’t need crated. He sleeps in my room every night, he loves his dog bed. His favorite time of the day is breakfast and dinner. And he won’t let you forget when it’s time to eat!  He has one eye that was injured years ago when he tried to break out of his crate (this is before he was a SAAP dog). So he was blind in that eye. Over the past year he lost sight in his other eye. So he’s totally blind but functions very well. I have 4 kids and he’s fine with them however they know to leave him alone. He gets grumpy if he’s laying by the ottoman, someone bumps it then it bumps him. He’ll growl. He’s never bit any of us. So my suggestion is he goes to a home with kids 8 years and older. He’s a great dog which is why I haven’t minded him being here for over 2 years. All SAAP animals are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventative as age appropriate.  Our website is: http://www.adoptastray.com/ To check if this animal is still available visit our master pet list on our website at:  http://www.adoptastray.com/adoptable-animals/ Have questions:  Please email us at saap@adoptastray.com for more information about this animal or to answer any questions you may have. Story
**Special Adopter Needed** Meet Teddy! This beagle pup is a happy go lucky guy. He loves to play, give kisses and snuggle. What makes Teddy more special than your average Beagle? Teddy was born with a heart anomaly where a tract that blood flows through in his heart is narrow and some valves are a bit deformed. At this time, he has a heart murmur from this developmental anomaly. As Teddy grows up, he is likely to develop congestive heart failure. For now, our partner vet recommends that Teddy visit the doctor monthly for his first year of life. If the doctor of the adopter's choosing believes Teddy needs a referral to a cardiac doctor, the adopter should follow through with that. Teddy is working on potty training, still having accidents but trying very hard. He's crate trained. Teddy LOVES kids, and other dogs; due to a bossy cat in his foster home, he steers clear of them. If you feel Teddy could be a family member you are open to care for and ensure he gets the best care for his heart condition, please apply at www.adoptastray.comAll SAAP animals are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventative as age appropriate. Story
Amelia is a sweet senior beagle mix looking for a forever home. She is house trained, good with other dogs and kids, and walks wonderfully on a leash. She is not a fan of the crate, but doesn't need one. She may be a senior, but she still has a playful side. She will play tug of war with you or will be content to sit on your lap or by your side. Amelia is a real trooper who has undergone surgery to remove growths from her leg, back, eye and spleen. All the masses came back as non-cancerous, however, the mass from her spleen had lymphoma cells in it. The lymphoma is currently not found anywhere else in or on her, but her adopter needs to be aware that there is a chance it may appear in the future. The possibility is there that she will never develop lymphoma as well. Anyone who adopts this lovely lady will need to watch her and take her to the vet if she should show any symptoms.
