Meet sweet OPIE who just arrived! Opie is a handsome 3 year old, 32 pound, tri-color beagle/hound mix. He is shy and will do best in a quiet home and one with another dog to help him build his confidence! Opie gets along well with other dogs, and ignores the kitties. Opie lost his way in rural North Carolina and we can not understand why his people did not retrieve such a sweet dog from the NC shelter. Volunteers at the shelter let us know that he was a very sweet dog and warmed up, especially on walks with other dogs. PetConnect has come to his rescue and has brought him to the DC area to find his new home that will adore him furever. The "big city" is a bit daunting to this country boy, so he will not be a good fit for someone living in a city environment -- too much traffic noise will scare poor Opie! Moreover, he probably will be best in an adult home or a less active home with older children, and will need some patience as he overcomes his shyness. In the comfort of his foster home, he has already learned how good it can be to have a nice soft dog bed! He likes to go for walks, is a great size, and is a "quiet" beagle/hound, with an adorable very expressive face and eyes. Opie would be a great companion to curl up at your feet on a cool spring evening. ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ) , spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Opie is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Lady Bug is a sweetheart. She loves affection, cuddles on the couch and hanging out with the resident dogs. She loves to run around in the yard, especially with the other dogs. She will do best with a home with other dogs and a fenced yard. She enjoys going on leash walks. She knows where the treat jar is and sits and waits until you can get it for her. Potty training has improved greatly. She will need someone that can work on separation anxiety. She does better when left with another dog to keep her company in a small space. She will play with small plush squeaky toys. Yak chews are a big hit and she will chew until it's time to put away. She allows you to take away toys, food and yak chews with no aggression.

These Beagle/Corgi mixes are a delight to watch, with noses to the ground, in search of clues throughout the yard and forest. The compact sleuths are 15 weeks old and weigh in at about 12 lbs, (20-25 lbs mature). Each is snooping about for an adventurous family or partner of their very own. (posted 4/5/20, RMc)   **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $325 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, food, medical records, spaying/neutering,microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate. Transport, if needed : $140.00 We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip from Alabama.
