Oh Henry came to us last year as a small puppy. He has been diagnosed with a genetic issue called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, where the Cerebellum part of his brain did not develop properly, and it controls motor skills. Henry is tipsy on his feet, his head bobs a bit, and when excited he looks like he's doing his own dance. He doesn't think there's anything wrong, but sometimes other dogs don't understand his strange movements. He will need a home that can help keep him safe by not having stairs for him to fall down and having a fenced yard as he's a bit of a challenge to walk on a leash even though it is do-able. Because of his condition, he does sometimes have accidents in the house when he gets all sprawled out uncontrollably. But he's the sweetest boy you'll ever meet! He recently has recovered from nutritional DCM, caused by our choice of feeding a grain free food. We changed his food and he's had three Echocardiograms and has just been deemed as this being successfully reversed - his heart is once again healthy! This issue is killing many dogs, so we consider ourselves very fortunate to have caught this early and followed the advice to change the food we have been feeding our fosters and our own dogs. Story
Bruce was adopted from AWA 10 years ago as a young puppy. His human mom passed away about 5 years ago. Awhile back, Bruce became part of a blended family. Unfortunately Bruce did not get along with his new dog brother and vice versa. That is no fault of his own. Bruce was surrendered to the humane society downtown who in turn contacted AWA and he came back to foster care. Bruce is very sweet, loving and wants to be with you all the time. He is house broke, has excellent leash manners, knows basic commands and is an all around good dog. However, he gets along with some of the dogs in his foster family, but not all of them. It seems to be other male dogs that he doesn’t care for, female dogs do not seem to be an issue. He has been around cats and shows no interest in them. We feel he would thrive in a home as the only canine family member – felines would be just fine. Bruce is 10 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccines. Lady Bird is a sweet and loving beagle mix girl. She is around 7 years old and around 25 pounds. Lady Bird is pretty laid back but still has bursts of energy. After a slow introduction, Lady Bird is good with other dogs but she isn't great at quick introductions at Petsmart during adoption events. Lady Bird is good with respectful children. When Lady Bird came to All Paws, she had heartworms. After months of treatment, Lady Bird is heartworm negative! Is Lady Bird the new friend you've been looking for?
