Story
Thank you, for caring enough to consider adopting a rescued pup in need of love, respect and a warm place to lay it's head fur-ever. This pup is in and will remain in foster care in Rutherfordton, NC until their adoptive person/family has been approved, and will then be ready for transport on the following Saturday(Saturday delivery ONLY). Upon request, we will be happy to send you more videos and pictures of this pup interacting with her H4S buddies, to help you get a better understanding  of their personality and activity level, and how they interact with their people and other pups. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CESAR(dob:10/26/2009 + weighs 45lbs)  was originally rescued from Rutherford County, NC's high-kill Animal Control (on 12/28/2011)  by a long-time animal advocate + volunteer, whom recently passed away leaving 14 dogs behind. Howlin4Spirit stepped up and took in 3 of her precious ones. CEASAR was outside in a fenced-in area with  Snookie,  a very sweet overweight female RottieX, whom he had the pleasure of keeping company and helped protect Miss Pat(single senior) from anyone trying to come onto her property while walking to shop at Walmart. While Sophie is rather BIG and can be a bit scary-looking to strangers. Cesar is neither scary nor aggressive, in any way. So, they made a good team. He gets along well with Howlin4Spirit's friendly and spirited 45+ dogs running freely on 5+ fenced-in acres, daily. He is a DEVOTED COMPANION. NOT to be mistaken for a 'yard ornament' nor laundry room occupant! He LOVES to be with his person, eat, sleep and follow his person around while doing all outdoor chores, laundry, cooking, taking walks in the woods, etc. He gets along well with other dogs and cats, but prefers being one of 1, 2 or 3, at most. He needs his person to take time to love on him, sit quietly with him in the woods on their morning walks and on the couch in the evenings. He will be by your side the entire way! EXTREMELY HAPPY disposition, DEVOTED to his person, and LOVES the outdoors!  He would do well in an apartment BUT ONLY if the adopter is committed to a 3Xday=1mi walking regime,  OR  in home with a secured fenced-in yard .  We will not be accepting any applications where there are children under the age of 10yo living in the home, unless they are respectful and experienced with Beagles. We are SEEKING to place Cesar, PREFERABLY, in a home with an active retiree OR work-from-home MAN OR WOMAN 45>65yo. CESAR is just 7+yo and deserves a devoted person who will be there for him, who is able to fill his life with love, respect and companionship, NOT just someone to come home to when the work day or when party is over. HE DESERVES MUCH MORE than the precarious situation he rescued from! Adoption fee: $95 i&#226&#128&#139ncludes neuter, micro-chip, Parvo-Distemper-Lepto & Bordatella and 1 yr Rabies vaccination,  parasite- free, current on monthly heart worm and flea/tick prevention, Martingale collar and 6' leash & current health certificate (issued within 3 days prior to transport).   Where there is a scent hound or guardian breed being considered for adoption, & in homes where older respectful children reside or will be visiting, a secured(not electric) fenced-in yard is required.  All potential adopters are required to be at least 25 yrs old and complete the application below, at your earliest convenience, to help secure the  pup of your choice.  PLEASE, state 1st choice and 2nd choice pups in case someone else's prior application has been approved before yours!   Upon receipt of your application, we will acknowledge your application in an email and immediately send out a questionnaire to your 3 personal references.  To help your chances of adopting the pup of your 1st choice, be sure to contact/ask all references to reply at their most earliest convenience. Also, give your vet's office permission to release your information to Howlin4Spirit. We will be contacting everyone within 2 business days.    Upon approval of this adoption, & to hold the dog/pup of your choice, we require the pup's adoption fee to be sent to our secure PayPal.com acct at: howlin4spirit@gmail.com Upon receipt of the adoption fee, we will send you the adoption contract and all pertinent information you will need to be ready for your pup's arrival, and reserve your pup's space on 'Save Them All' OR 'Happy Dogs' next available transport(SATURDAY delivery ONLY). Their transport fee is $125  to all points as far N as NYC and LI,  and $140 to all points N of NYC as far as Manchester, NH and Syracuse & Albany, NY, to be paid by the adopter to the transport svc who serves your area.

Story
Thank you, for considering opening your heart and home to a rescued pup in need of love and respect.   UPDATE: BUSTER now LOVES sleeping on the floor next to his person and has adjusted to the population of many other Beagle and young fur-kids like himself whom have been rescued and are seeking love, respect and a home of their very own. He is housebroken, but does not like being crated. Yet, rides well in a car(yes, in a crate...always best when travelling!).    BUSTER-m/n, pb Beagle-dob ~10/22/2013 was rescued from a rural farming community after he either followed his nose too far from home & got lost or he was abandoned..happens all too often by their so-called 'hunter' owners. Buster had been running this community for ~3weeks, and was getting into folk's trash; apparently with some success judging by his girth at the time of being rescued. Many neighbors contacted Animal Control(but they had no room at their 'inn') and posted his picture and location on FB, with no results. So, they contacted Howlin4Spirit to see if we could help him. SWEET little rollie-pollie(11"@shoulders, but has a 13"Beagle's body, @ 3olbs, with a calm, gentle demeanor.  Buster is housebroken and walks well on-leash, and is a sweet gentle soul. We think he probably was an 'only pet' in his past life and seems to enjoy a spot of his own, yet he gets along well with all the others. Puppies can be a bit irritating to him, however. Nothing mean, just warns them with a growl or two. He likes hunting squirrels and critters along our wooded trails, but at a moderate pace...not like his life depends on it. Friendly, but very wise. Buster is an 'old soul'. After spending at least 3 wks lost, & most likely shouted at/chased off, had to deal with guns shot off to scare him away, etc, his instincts on who can be trusted and whom he can't is pretty on-point. He's intuitive and reserved, at first. Then, seeks your love/attention once he trusts you. When Howlin4Spirit went to the home of the person who called us to take him, he had spent ~16hrs under a plastic container exactly his size, with no water/food...and 3 heavy houseplants holding it down on him...pretty scary scenario for such a mellow, friendly guy. Buster is looking for an active, early retiree or stay at/work from at home person. Someone with Beagle experience and at least a 4'h fenced-in yard with maybe a garden and who will take him for leisurely daily walks...he enjoys quiet adventures and hanging out with his person.  A true JOY for any Beagle-lover. Just be sure to secure your trash can lids and be prepared to sit at a table to eat. IF Buster can see an opportunity to grab a treat and run with it, he'll take it. Adoption fee: $125, includes neuter, micro-chipped, utd on Rabies, Bordatella, Parvo/Distemper/Lepto vaccines, parasite-free and current on heart worm and flea/tick prevention. Comes with all medical paperwork, including vet's surgical notes, Rabies certificate and health certificate. Buster is in and will remain in foster care in Rutherfordton, NC until his adoptive home is  approved.       More videos and pictures are available upon request. All regional(WNC/easternTN/upstateSC) adopters are welcome for a meet/greet, by appt only. Transport is available via commercial Rescued Pet Transport services along the eastern seaboard < NC>VA, MD, DE, Phila/Allentown/CarlislePA, along the NJTnpk, LongIsland/Rye/Albany/Buffalo/Rochester & SyracuseNY, JohnstonRI, ManchesterNH and BurlingtonVT is available at the going rates: $125 as far N as Vince Lombardi/NJTnpk-mm115 & $140 to all points N & W of Vince Lombardi. To apply to adopt this special pup, please complete the application provided at: www.howlin4spirit.org/adoption-application/ and send to howlin4spirit@gmail.com at your most earliest convenience. We will acknowledge receipt and begin processing your application immediately and will be back in touch just as soon as we have received responses from your 3 personal references and spoken with your vet's office, and property mgmt-if you rent.

Story
Molly-dob: 03/13/2020-was rescued from a local Animal Control, after her hooman let her down by giving her up. Howlin4Spirit does not know why they gave her up, maybe financial, maybe they didn't have time for her-out of work or too many hrs on the job? Because she is a very sweet girl, is housebroken, walks well on-leash, gets along well with other dogs(young/old/male/female). At her current age & puppy energy level-we don't feel that she would be appropriate around cats nor toddlers(obedience training would be required) though, she didn't have an actual drive with our vet's office cats, mostly overt curiosity. She's smart and wants to please. Very friendly and happy. H4S thinks that Molly may have been crated while her people were at work as she's not a great fan of being in one(open-door crate is a OK place for her to 'hang', but it has to be her option or she will verbally protest by whining). So, we are seeking a 'work-from-home' or 'stay-at-home' situation for Molly's current needs. Although, we feel strongly that she will acclimate quickly, once she trusts that she is 'home' and that her person won't abandon her or leave her for long periods. With love and a gentle spirit, a trusting bond is right around the corner with Molly. She's a HAPPY and very healthy girl with typical puppy energy, so she would be an awesome running/jogging/hiking buddy for an avidly active person(s). OR, if there would be another 1>10yo to be able to hang and play with in a secured fenced-in backyard...as long as there's also a doggie bed lying around in the house when she's tuckered out. Adoption fee: $195(includes all medical paperwork from day#1 with Howlin4Spirit including all vet's surgical notes, spay, micro-chip, utd on Bordatella, Parvo/Distemper/Lepto and Rabies vax, current on heart worm & flea/tick prevention, plus Rabies and current health certificate, parasite-free, current on heart worm and flea/tick prevention, 3lbs of current dry food(Tractor Supply Store's '4health'-salmon & potato), new nylon Martingale collar & matching 6' leash, Nylabone or Kong chew toy, T ball, 'Rescued Dogs Rock' magnet, 2 'pet alert' wallet cards and 'SUPER PUPPY-The Best Puppy You'll Ever Have' training booklet)   This pup is in and will remain in foster care in Rutherfordton, NC until their fur-ever home is approved and they have recovered from her spay surgery. She will be ready to start her new life of love and adventures on SAT/March 28th. Transport fees are as follows: $125 to VA, MD, DE, NJ(as far N as Vince Lombardi svc plaza/NJTnpk, mm115). $140 to Jericho(LongIsland)/Rye/Albany/Rochester & SyracuseNY, JohnstonRI, ManchesterNH & BurlingtonVT.     A completed application, 3 personal references and your vet's reference is required for approval. To apply to adopt one of these pups please send us your completed application which is provided at: www.howlin4spirit.org/adoption-application/ to howlin4spirit@gmail.com. PLEASE, BE SURE TO PROVIDE EMAIL ADDRESSES for all of your unrelated personal references, so that we can properly process your application. MUST be EMAIL ADDRESSES, NOT tele#s. &, give your vet's office permission to release your pet's medical history to our rep.  Upon receipt, we will acknowledge your application with an email and begin processing it, immediately. We will be sending your personal references a short questionnaire and will call your vet's office within 1 business day. PLEASE, contact your personal references and ask that they respond to our questionnaire at their very earliest convenience.

Story
If you are interested in JOEY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to kappy.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. JOEY is one of the calmest, kindest souls we have ever had in our program. He is intelligent, compassionate and affectionate. He is very attentive and is beyond content sitting at your feet and looking endlessly lovingly into your eyes while you pet him. He is a laid back kind of fellow who enjoys tranquil walks around the neighborhood or relaxing days cuddling on the couch. In fact, his favorite thing is being curled up near his foster mom while being loved on and getting his ears rubbed. He wants to go anywhere you do and is a precious waggy-tailed shadow. When he is not with his foster mom, he can usually be found on one of his two dog beds, curled up and dreaming peacefully. He is funny about the dog beds and a lot of times paws at them for a while to get them in just the right position, which sometimes is upside down. He also enjoys sunbathing outside on a nice day and squints at the sun with his nose in the air to sniff the breeze. He is immediately personable with everyone he meets. He will trot right up to a new person and sit in front of them for some rubbins. He never gets too excited, so he provides a calm and sweet reception for visitors. He is also very fond of dogs, but doesn’t really get wild with his play. He follows along with the dogs he shares a foster home with and is very social. JOEY is wonderful with kitties and even makes ones wary of dogs comfortable. He currently shares his foster home with a puppy, a senior dog and 2 cats. This guy is one of those rare gentle souls that only some people are lucky enough to meet in their lifetime. He is the perfect dog to accompany you to all your favorite places. He has impeccable manners, is infinitely patient and never jumps up on anyone. Basically, he is always a delight to be around. He is a dream on a leash and calmly walks with you without pulling. He is loyal as the day is long and incredibly eager to please. Unlike most beagles, this guy rarely makes a peep, but when he does, his little scratchy beagle howl is super cute and is definitely a muffled version. It’s a tiny, polite hello to his four-legged friends in the neighborhood. He is a perfect gentleman in the house, has never had an accident and is so trustworthy that his foster mom leaves him free in the house when she is not home. JOEY is a true gem who will make his forever family’s dreams come true. To see even more pictures of JOEY copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/q0d5tbcqxf0n8tu/AAAd_dcu1jVwo4zRlNSvWURXa?dl=0 JOEY is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations. His $490 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area after he is officially adopted. For an adoption application on JOEY click here Please email the completed application to kappy.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/). For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport). Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook!
