Name: Oakley

Oakley is an adult Belgian Malinois who has seen a lot in his short life and not much of it good it seems. He came in emaciated, covered in buckshot pellets, and terrified of the world. Quick movements, hands reaching towards him send him to the ground expecting the worst and belly crawling away to avoid being hurt. Give him a few weeks to settle in, build up trust, and gain some confidence and you have yourself a total puppy of a dog who loves to run, play, fetch, swim, and have a blast. He is the stereotypical super smart, high energy Malinois once he is comfortable in a home. He is living the puppyhood he never got to have before and loving it. He is still extremely nervous outside his comfort zone and with new people so looking for a home who will do some serious confidence building and training to show him that the world is a safe place and new people are not to be feared. With his foster home and at his foster home, he is a silly, playful, always happy guy with a puppy spirit like none other. He needs a home who has the experience and patience to work with a fearful dog and the experience and time to work and train the happy, wild Malinois boy he becomes once he settles in. Oakley is tolerant of some other large breed dogs, but no cats or small animals for him. Oakley is housetrained, working through some issues in the crate and doing well, and is learning to mind his manners in the house which he does fairly well at as long as his energy is burned out. He would be best in an experienced working dog home who will continue to train and exercise him properly both physically and mentally. He does require a physically fenced yard and an adult-only home. We do not ship our dogs so please keep that in mind if you are outside the MN/WI area.
