Story
Callie is a 7 year old black and tan coonhound. She is a good dog; sweet, lovable, funny, and cuddly. She is great with kids and other dogs and loves spending time outdoors. She loves to hang outside or in a yard for as long as you'll let her. Unfortunately, she suffers from some anxiety issues that can make her stubborn and strong willed. She is a wonderful dog for a family who has the luxury of a yard and the time. For me I am no longer able to give her the lifestyle and dedicate the time she needs to be happy. My new job and home can't give her what she needs and my economic situation limits my ability to help. I am not rehoming her because I want to. I'm rehoming because its what will ultimately be best for her.

Daisy is the hands down the sweetest dog I've ever owned. She is as harmless as they come. She just wants to love and be loved. Gets along with all pets and people, and we're hoping to find her a good home for her golden years. I adopted her at around 5 years old, and she entered a home with 5 other dogs and immediately got along with all of them. She's over 10 years old now, but we're moving to a location that doesn't allow us to keep her. It breaks my heart to let her go, but she's so wonderful I want her to find someone special to spend time with. She's a slower-paced dog. Most of the time she just wants to lay down and relax. So a slower speed household works best. She is fine in our home with 4 children under the age of 10, but she's probably a good match for an elderly owner or someone who wants an easy going non-hyper dog to have in their home. Fair warning: She gets very car sick. So, my advice is keep them short and infrequent if needed.

Have you been wanting to try one of the fun new dog sports- nose work, flyball, dock diving - Abbie’s your girl! She’s got brains as well as beauty and will need a family who will keep her mind and body busy. Did we mention Abbie LOVES to play with dogs, another dog with matching energy level would be great for her, or a neighborhood playmate or visits to doggie daycare will keep her energy in check. Abbie is a little over a year and weighs about 45 lbs. She’s sadly been with us since she was a baby and has come a long way from the super skinny puppy taken from a neglect situation in rural NC (all the dogs were in very bad shape!). Now all she needs is a family to show her what life in a home is like and her journey to Happy Endings will be complete!  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org.
