Story
I've owned Bali since she was a few weeks old and it crushes me to have to get rid of her. She is the most loving dog you will ever meet and absolutely loves to play. She will have the energy to keep up with any active lifestyle. If she does not receive enough exercise and/or outdoor time she will misbehave. A yard is a necessity and she was a perfect dog when we had a yard. I now live in an upstairs apartment and work 9.5 hour days so I have not been able to give her the time she needs and her behavior has been slipping. She is dog aggressive on sight but gets along with every dog after the initial excitement of meeting subsides. She is the smartest dog you will meet and might even understand English if I'm being honest.

Story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and unwanted! River, at only 15 weeks old and 9 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 28 lbs) was a victim of circumstance through no fault of his own. River and his brother Remy were found abandoned on a freezing New Mexico morning..and ultimately turned into a high kill shelter that was already very short on space. Luck was with this very sweet pair on that day...a Farfel's rescuer happened to be at the shelter and watched the puppies arrive. It was love at first sight and days later, the puppies left the shelter with our rescuer as their foster. . Our rescuer was very pleased to find that these gorgeous puppies were healthy, cuddly and, while shy, warmed up and were engaging and friendly. She went on to make the decision that these babies belonged in Colorado. She imagined them with room to run and play in an environment where both Border Collies and Shelties are very popular. It's also very important that these babies get the opportunity to attend puppy kindergarten, obedience training and the fun of agility and herding activities. Days later, both River and Remy received their coveted tickets on transport to Farfel's Rescue in Colorado. River is an incredibly beautiful puppy...with a stunning black as coal coat (with the cutest pure white stripe between his eyes) that is soft as cotton. His hair is shining and so soft that you just want to stroke him and tell him how beautiful he is. River will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for excellent general health and to keep his coat silky-soft and very healthy. Since River is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - he will form firm bonds with his people (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through the love of an excellent family. Farfel's feels that it's very important for these great families to attend positive reinforcement/force-free puppy socialization class followed by level 1 group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a truly bonded dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel so strongly about every puppy being given this training opportunity that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. We're very open to River finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. River has been known to enjoy children and is described as incredibly sweet, engaging and snuggly. We'd prefer older kids for this sweet guy where the energy is calmer and voices are more gentle. We aren't open to River being left alone for long hours while his family works full-time outside of the home. He's a sensitive puppy that thrives on the companionship of this people. Therefore retirees, those who work from home, part-time or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for this very loving and loyal best friend. River will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. He's currently too young to be neutered...when he gets a bit older, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for River's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. River will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 3/14. Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous and very sweet and loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting River, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
There are many, many Border Collie and Sheltie lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be two of the most desirable breeds available today. This is due to their consistently engaging temperaments, the beauty of their stunning coats, their love and loyalty to their people and overall super-intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their gorgeous markings and very expressive dark eyes. Streak has a stunning coat that is perfect for those that love to touch the softness of their pet's hair. With great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care), far less stress by being a part of a loving family and with a commitment to lifelong periodic grooming on a regular basis...Streak will emerge with a gorgeous, cottony-soft and matt-free coat that speaks of his breed mix. Streak is just about 18 months old. This is such a great age for anyone seeking a fun-loving and cuddly companion..old enough to have left his puppy behaviors behind and young enough to have his whole life lying ahead. Streak weighs a petite 24 lbs..a great size to accompany his family everywhere a well-behaved smaller dog is welcome. We feel that Streak's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization. He's a very engaging guy who with guidance will be able to accompany is family everywhere a well-behaved smaller dog is welcome. He's a perfect candidate for positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Streak will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so beautiful both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates his gifts and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. We're searching for a very loving and dog-crazy family for Streak...either active retirees or families with older, very gentle kids would speak to Streak's love of being together with his people engaging in fun activities. Another kind and gentle canine playmate would be perfect for Streak. He's untested with cats. Streak (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's given enough exercise and mental stimulation... followed by some serious snuggling with his favorite people. It would be a family who is retired or works from home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to a dog-friendly workplace) that would provide a great forever home for Streak. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Streak will arrive in Colorado neutered, vaccinated and with a perfect health exam that has earned him an interstate health certificate from the CO Department of Agriculture for passage from Arkansas to Colorado. Adoption applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** Farfel's Rescue makes huge efforts to place our dogs with families that are excellent matches. We do this through our 6-page Farfel's application found on farfels.com or at the link provided above (never through rescue site apps such as Petfinder, RescueMe or Adopt a Pet as they don't provide enough information). If you're truly interested in adopting Streak, please be sure to fill out the Farfel's adoption application only. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.

Story
Benny is such a sensitive, special boy! He was surrendered to us because he didn't want to work, he wanted to PLAY with the cattle. His about a year old and weighs about 53 pounds. He needs to gain a bit of confidence. He is such a good boy, but loud noises and other dogs make him a little nervous. He would do really well with some training and confidence-building, as well as some patience and love. His foster mom is doing an amazing job of telling him that everything is OK and he has already decided that he does enjoy Benebones, Kongs, and hot dog pieces, as well as playing with a tennis ball, that initially worried him a bit. Watching his smile as he learns to play and realize he is safe is heart-warming! With this stay at home order, we have not been able to mix him in with other dogs to truly see if we can squelch this nervousness. We do know, however, that he loves confident cats! He searches for his buddy in the house and enjoys having the companionship. He also loves people, but smaller children would only make Benny nervous, so teenagers as children only for this sweet boy. Benny is a hugger as opposed to a runner. If he gets nervous, he grabs your leg with his paws or walks between your legs as opposed to taking off. He has a soft mouth, and does not have an ounce of aggression in his whole body. He is gentle and caring and emotionally delicate, but once you have him knowing you are his person, he will be the greatest dog you have ever known. All Benny needs is a confident, patient, dog person who can help him gain his confidence back and know that there is a lot of good in the world! He has already changed dramatically for the better being with his foster mom, so imagine what he can do with a forever home!!! He will be neutered by Lightshine as soon as our spay/neuter reopens.

Story
Ally is a 5 year old shelter dog. She is sweet and loving except she doesn’t get along, at all, with other dogs without a lot of work. She has accidents in the house. Needs a yard. She has run to confront other dogs but stays around if no dogs, rabbits or squirrels around. Ally is very well leash trained and responds well to verbal commands. She gets excited around teenagers if they are active, otherwise she’s fine. Ally is too big for me, at 50 pounds, to control on walks if other animals present or rabbits appear. And she needs a yard to help with house training. She was trained in the Sit Means Sit program. I love this dog an am sad to let her go.

These pups are in Boulder, Colorado too!

Are you ready to meet one of the sweetest dogs ever?!! This is Cleveland, he is a Border Collie, Australian Shepherd mix of a guy who loves his family, other dogs his size or smaller and is avoiding cats - he just has no interest in them. He likes to go out to his yard and explore and go on walks. He is an older, more experienced dog so he isn't full of energy but he does love to go out and about. He will sleep next to you on the floor (he wasn't interested in being on the bed) and sleeps through the night, he is potty trained, and leash trained. His mild personality is great for families of all kinds! Cleveland is located in the Highlands Ranch area! If you would like to meet him please apply at www.frontrangefreedomrescue.org

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Blitz is the puppy you want to have around! Blitz, at just 5 months old and 22 lbs (expected to be full-grown at approximately 35 lbs), is just naturally a lover....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just can't help but melt. Blitz is a beautiful Blue Heeler/Basset mix (cutest mix ever..brings a smile to our face) with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes for families and individuals searching for loving and loyal best friends. Blitz has a stunning coat that is cottony-soft and shining with good health. His markings are gorgeous and are consistent with his Blue Heeler lineage while his legs are short like a Basset and so silly looking... but Blitz hikes like a champion. Blitz will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and excellent nutrition (a 5 star dog food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for hair care and longevity) to keep his coat soft as can be with good health. Blitz enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's so important to Blitz to be a true best friend! She says that this gorgeous guy is over the top sweet, just a bit submissive and loves his people more than anything! He would definitely win an award for being a wonderful as can be best friend. Blitz stays close to his person...snuggling close on the bed all night is one of sweet Blitz's favorite activities. He's a sensitive and very loving guy who derives so much joy from his time spent with his people and his canine best friends. Blitz is a young, healthy dog who will love a kind and respectful family with all his heart. He would also enjoy another gentle dog to play with.. and then to lie in the sunshine together enjoying a beautiful day. Blitz is an active puppy (although calms down quickly) who will have so much fun exploring and taking long hikes along the Colorado trails. He's always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Blitz will jump for a car ride, a fun hike or just a sociable stroll around the neighborhood. Blitz is an extremely affectionate and loving puppy! We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and kind dog. We'd hate to see Blitz left alone all day while his family works full-time. We think he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing puppy and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about anywhere. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Blitz in a home where he'll get consistent mental stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for all dogs that we're unwilling to adopt to a family who's unwilling to give Bliza this opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. We've requested that Blitz be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Blitz's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. We're currently searching for a very loving and committed family for our wonderful Blitz. Applications are being accepted for this loyal best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** Farfel's Rescue makes huge efforts to place our dogs with families that are excellent matches. We do this through our 6-page Farfel's application found on farfels.com (never through rescue site apps as they don't provide enough information) followed by follow-up phone interviews, home photos and reference checks. If you're truly interested in adopting Blitz, please be sure to fill out the Farfel's adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
