Story
Benny is such a sensitive, special boy! He was surrendered to us because he didn't want to work, he wanted to PLAY with the cattle. His about a year old and weighs about 53 pounds. He needs to gain a bit of confidence. He is such a good boy, but loud noises and other dogs make him a little nervous. He would do really well with some training and confidence-building, as well as some patience and love. His foster mom is doing an amazing job of telling him that everything is OK and he has already decided that he does enjoy Benebones, Kongs, and hot dog pieces, as well as playing with a tennis ball, that initially worried him a bit. Watching his smile as he learns to play and realize he is safe is heart-warming! With this stay at home order, we have not been able to mix him in with other dogs to truly see if we can squelch this nervousness. We do know, however, that he loves confident cats! He searches for his buddy in the house and enjoys having the companionship. He also loves people, but smaller children would only make Benny nervous, so teenagers as children only for this sweet boy. Benny is a hugger as opposed to a runner. If he gets nervous, he grabs your leg with his paws or walks between your legs as opposed to taking off. He has a soft mouth, and does not have an ounce of aggression in his whole body. He is gentle and caring and emotionally delicate, but once you have him knowing you are his person, he will be the greatest dog you have ever known. All Benny needs is a confident, patient, dog person who can help him gain his confidence back and know that there is a lot of good in the world! He has already changed dramatically for the better being with his foster mom, so imagine what he can do with a forever home!!! He will be neutered by Lightshine as soon as our spay/neuter reopens.

Story
Ally is a 5 year old shelter dog. She is sweet and loving except she doesn’t get along, at all, with other dogs without a lot of work. She has accidents in the house. Needs a yard. She has run to confront other dogs but stays around if no dogs, rabbits or squirrels around. Ally is very well leash trained and responds well to verbal commands. She gets excited around teenagers if they are active, otherwise she’s fine. Ally is too big for me, at 50 pounds, to control on walks if other animals present or rabbits appear. And she needs a yard to help with house training. She was trained in the Sit Means Sit program. I love this dog an am sad to let her go.

Story
I've owned Bali since she was a few weeks old and it crushes me to have to get rid of her. She is the most loving dog you will ever meet and absolutely loves to play. She will have the energy to keep up with any active lifestyle. If she does not receive enough exercise and/or outdoor time she will misbehave. A yard is a necessity and she was a perfect dog when we had a yard. I now live in an upstairs apartment and work 9.5 hour days so I have not been able to give her the time she needs and her behavior has been slipping. She is dog aggressive on sight but gets along with every dog after the initial excitement of meeting subsides. She is the smartest dog you will meet and might even understand English if I'm being honest.

Story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and unwanted! River, at only 15 weeks old and 9 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 28 lbs) was a victim of circumstance through no fault of his own. River and his brother Remy were found abandoned on a freezing New Mexico morning..and ultimately turned into a high kill shelter that was already very short on space. Luck was with this very sweet pair on that day...a Farfel's rescuer happened to be at the shelter and watched the puppies arrive. It was love at first sight and days later, the puppies left the shelter with our rescuer as their foster. . Our rescuer was very pleased to find that these gorgeous puppies were healthy, cuddly and, while shy, warmed up and were engaging and friendly. She went on to make the decision that these babies belonged in Colorado. She imagined them with room to run and play in an environment where both Border Collies and Shelties are very popular. It's also very important that these babies get the opportunity to attend puppy kindergarten, obedience training and the fun of agility and herding activities. Days later, both River and Remy received their coveted tickets on transport to Farfel's Rescue in Colorado. River is an incredibly beautiful puppy...with a stunning black as coal coat (with the cutest pure white stripe between his eyes) that is soft as cotton. His hair is shining and so soft that you just want to stroke him and tell him how beautiful he is. River will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for excellent general health and to keep his coat silky-soft and very healthy. Since River is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - he will form firm bonds with his people (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through the love of an excellent family. Farfel's feels that it's very important for these great families to attend positive reinforcement/force-free puppy socialization class followed by level 1 group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a truly bonded dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel so strongly about every puppy being given this training opportunity that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. We're very open to River finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. River has been known to enjoy children and is described as incredibly sweet, engaging and snuggly. We'd prefer older kids for this sweet guy where the energy is calmer and voices are more gentle. We aren't open to River being left alone for long hours while his family works full-time outside of the home. He's a sensitive puppy that thrives on the companionship of this people. Therefore retirees, those who work from home, part-time or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for this very loving and loyal best friend. River will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. He's currently too young to be neutered...when he gets a bit older, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for River's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. River will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 3/14. Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous and very sweet and loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting River, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
