I AM IN FOSTER CARE! PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION, ONCE PRE-APPROVED, GIVE US A CALL AND WE CAN SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOU TO MEET ME! I am from a hoarding situation. I need extra patience and time. I need to go to a quiet household, preferably with another dog. I am 39 lbs., 4 years old, and l am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $300 All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested and started on Tri Heart Plus; Vectra 3D. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of the adoption. Our website is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. All new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as animals are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs or Cats page, they are still available. So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family.  Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Meet Cody! He’s a super sweet 4 year old Border Collie and weighs 60 pounds. He is very calm and likes to lay low most of the day, and he LOVES to snuggle on the couch! He can go in a crate if needed, but he would prefer to roam free. He is housebroken and doesn’t have any accidents inside. He loves both of his dog foster siblings, and we think he will do best in a home with other dogs to play with. He would love a house with a yard for him to run around and play in. He can be shy around new surroundings at first, but with some patience we know he will make a great addition to any family! He still needs a lot of time, patience, and love but we know he will make a great companion for someone! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. I am having a wonderful time here, chewing up my toys, playing fetch and tug, doing “tricks for treats” each day with Sam and vegging out in my crate. As much as I enjoy my foster home, I would love to find a forever family to cuddle up and wrestle with! I need a good-sized, securely-fenced yard so I can run around like crazy each day, and a home with no dogs or maybe one average-sized dog. No cats, tiny dogs or other small pets, please. Otherwise, I am not fussy, especially when it comes to food. I will make sure that your floors are spanking clean, without a crumb in sight. Am I the dog for your family? I hope so. Gizmo is settling well with my 3 dogs and cats. He knows how to sit, stay and give paw. We are going to work more on stay, come and down. He is very smart and wants to please. He likes to fetch, cuddle and lick your face. He is food motivated so training him is not difficult. It’s all about consistency. He does like to put his paws on the counter, so we are working on stopping that behavior. He follows me around in the house, curious to what I am doing. When we go to the park, he enjoys wandering and enjoying all the smells left behind. He seems to get along with any of the dogs, and will run around with some of them. Overall, he is a good boy. Sissy is a 6 year old spayed Border Collie mix female. Sissy loves rub downs and give loads of kisses to say thank you. She enjoys running about in the big yard and cuddling up on her bed with a good rawhide to gnaw on. Sissy can be a bit shy at first but once she knows you she truly enjoys the company of people. Sissy can be dog selective, prefers males, prefers older kids, and no cats.
