Story
Meet Brownie, this 8 month old Border Collie blend has the most gorgeous golden eyes. He is pretty small and only weighs about 20lbs currently. Being a Border Collie blend he is very smart and energetic. Brownie would do best in an active home that has the ability to give him plenty of exercise. He would excell with some dedicated training and is happiest when he has a project or job to do. If you would like to find out more about Brownie please fill out an application at www.caretx.org/adopt and CARE will be in contact with you soon! This dog was rescued from a kill shelter or the streets and has been evaluated for medical and temperament to prepare for a forever home and is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas* and is ready to fly to its final destination once adopted. The adoption fee of $850 covers spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and air transport. Please email Emily at adoptions@caretx.org if you have any question. * CARE rescue is in San Antonio, TX where we have a serious pet overpopulation situation. CARE is a non profit 501c3 rescue that has been saving lives for over 9 years and with your adoption, we can help save even more deserving urgent adoptable pets! We fly our pets to approved adopters all over the US, especially in low kill and no kill markets where there is a demand for rescue pets!

Story
My dog’s name is Lola and she is 8 years old in March. She is part Border collie, part mutt, and acts like a herder. She is ~70 lb, black white and brown, with “rot spots” above her eyes. She responds to come, sit, stay, leave it, on your bed, out. She is kennel trained, chipped, and has all her shots. She is not destructive, although she likes chewing up paper and cardboard. She is border conscious, and never tries to escape or dig. She likes to play tug-of-war and Frisbee. She limps on her hind legs with too much exercise. Vet said it’s likely torn CCLs. We decided against surgery and instead to back off on the exercise. Since then she does not limp. She very much enjoys going on walks. She is ok on a leash, but will pull. She is a dominant dog, and is ok with other dogs once she gets to know them, once they know she’s the boss. She is not a good dog park dog. She is ok with cats only if the cat is dominant. She does not like chaos and thus does not like small kids.

Story
I am in search of a better life for my dog. Arrow is an affectionate, sweet, cuddly, highly intelligent dog. I am looking to rehome her as my lifestyle does not suite her needs. Ideally, she'd be working on a farm, but I know that's not realistic. However, she would make an excellent partner for someone able to dedicate a large amount of time to her, 2 hours of exercise a day. Someone interested in agility or herding. Someone who is highly active. Someone who owns their own home and has land for her to run on. I work full time and live in an apartment, as such she experiences a lot of anxiety due to the noises of city living and lack of sufficient exercise. She barks a lot and is extremely anxious in her current living situation. I am looking for an experienced dog owner able to dedicate time to her exercise and able to tend to her medical issues (she has megaesophagus, which is managed with blenderized food and an elevated feeder).

Story
I rescued this sweet, adorable boy about a week ago from someone who wanted to put him down due to not having time to train him. Needless to say, I snatched him up, no second thoughts. He loves to snuggle and play with his stuffed animals. He needs the love and attention that he deserves that unfortunately I cannot give to him. He was deprived of food in his previous home, so he has some issues around food, only with other animals though, I am able to pet him and put my hands near him while he's eating. He learns commands very quickly and is currently in the process of being kennel-trained.

Story
Our family adopted Kiba a few months before we had a baby. Kiba is terrified of the new baby and we feel he would be so much happier in an environment with no small children. Kiba is 4 years old. He loves going on runs and walks but dog parks make him nervous.

Story
Jewel is a sweet girl who has all the loving qualities typically found in the border collie breed; she is affectionate and promises to always be by your side. She absolutely adores everyone she meets and does great with children. Jewel is about 4 years old, does well with resident cats (she will chase cats that wander up to a property) and she does well with most dogs but not all. So far it seems that Jewel prefers dogs she is not intimidated by, she will give a "back off" snap to a dog that is bigger than she is but gets along with them after proper introductions and time. Jewel will chase squirrels and deer so a fenced in yard is a must. This dog currently resides in Bandera, Tx. , We transport dogs to Washington State usually 2-3 times a month. Please understand that there is additional vetting, health certificates and costs involved with transporting a dog from Texas to Washington and our adoption fee is $300.00 which covers everything from the spay/neuter to the actual transport cost. *All of our dogs have tested Heart-worm negative and are on a monthly heart worm prevention protocol
