Story
Major loves his friends, loves walks, and loves lying in the grass and soaking up the sunshine. His favorite thing these days is a walk to--and into--the river. He's a very smart dog who likes doing obedience exercises and working with his person, and who then likes just wandering around sniffing everything and exploring his environment. Major is looking for a relaxed, knowledgeable person who will give him space and guidance. We rescued Major after he had been in the shelter over 3 years, and we think he would do best with a mature, single owner, and with a house and yard rather than an apartment. We would like to find a foster or adopter who will work with us and with a trainer to address Major's behavioral/emotional needs. Here's your chance to learn more about canine behavior and training, and to help save a life! Major's life was in danger before we rescued him, and getting him out of the shelter was just the first step in saving him. Now he needs a dedicated foster or adopter.

Story
Max came to AAC as a stray and it was obvious he had been severely neglected. He was extremely emaciated and covered in fleas and flies. With extra attention from staff and volunteers, Max regained his health. Today, Max is a totally new dog, ready for his forever family.“He is SUCH a cuddle bug!” Volunteers have gushed about Max. He is curious and loves going on walks. Max is quite the loose-leash walker and a go-to for new volunteers who are just learning the ropes. He’s super sweet and gentle when taking treats. (He absolutely loves cheese and enrichment games that involve food.) Max knows commands like sit, shake, and high five. He might be timid at first, but once Max learns he can trust you, he’ll be your BFF.The constant noise and barking at the shelter are a little much for this gentle soul. Max would love a calm and quiet home where he can relax and enjoy snuggle time with his human. He could also easily live with a doggie sibling. If you’re ready to spoil this pupper and make sure the second part of his life is the absolute best, come by and meet him. He can’t wait to go home!

Lovable Lucy!!!! My sweet Lucy girl deserves the best family! I'm getting married and sadly can't take her into my new home. Lucy is kind and gentle. Had an extremely abusive past prior to me adopting her. Lucy loves cuddles and watching TV. She's a one owner kind of gal. Maybe even an older or empty house couple just looking for a companion. She DOES NOT do well with other dogs. Shy upon new guests and needs time to open up. Other than that if you're looking for a sweet companion Lucy is the best dog out there. Reach out with any questions and if you'd like to meet her first let me know. I'd love to introduce you to her!!!

Buddy is a good boy, he is great with my 5 month old daughter and loves to play! He’s protective over the ones caring for him but he does like to chew on cuddly things. So lock up your stuffed animals! He’s a big cuddle bug and loves to give kisses. My daughter and I are moving into an apartment and I just don’t think buddy will be happy without a yard to play in.

Story
Gracie is a loving girl who wants all of your attention. She talks a lot and is very vocal with her feelings. She loves tug of war and playing ball even though you have to coax it from her. Gracie was born in March 2008 and is 11 years old. She is still playful and active. She would be an ideal pet for any person older than 10. She has shared the attention with 3 other pets for many years so we believe she would be happiest with a single pet family or with no more than two pets in the home. Gracie and Sunny, our other, younger, border collie, are unable to co-exist. Sunny is more aggressive and has gotten the better of Gracie. We are worried that the next time we may not be as lucky. We love Gracie and want the very best for her! Gracie has a bit of an OCD issue with licking, she also likes a lot of attention, however she is mild mannered and a very loving girl and is very energetic for an 11 year old!

Story
Kimmel has discovered what it's like to live in a kind, friendly home and - oh, boy! -- he loves it! In Foster care, he became a friendly, playful and cuddly boy! He's now an outgoing boy who's gaining confidence every day. He came to foster with no leash walking skills, and figured it out quickly. Now he's prancing through the neighborhood like he owns the place and loves meeting new people he sees, including kids. They tell him he's beautiful, and he's starting to believe it. At home, this wiggly boy loves being petted and cuddled, and he has fun playing with his stuffed toys. Kimmel loves playing with his foster siblings but gives them space when they need it. Kimmel came to foster to work on his skin. He may have a rather unique face, but it's not contagious (other than the smiles from his cuteness). Kimmel is potty-trained, crate-trained, comfortable being home alone, and will be your friend for life! He will also have fun with dog buddies. Come meet this lovable boy. And see more about him on Instagram: @kimmelcam.
