RaeAnn 801-391-2523Sadie is a 7 year old border collie. She`s very loving and loves to play fetch. A yard to run in is required. She uses a dog door now. She was moms baby and only dog for 5 years. She loves being by her owners side. She`s always been an inside dog. She`s great with children but not a fan of cats and would be best as an only dog.

Story
OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Hobbs is a smart fellow that LOVES playing with toys, especially if a game of tug-of-war is involved! He is vocal when playing; it’s just his way of letting you know he’s having fun. Hobbs’s ideal home would be one that is active and will take him for walks and give him something to do that will challenge both his mind and body. He walks well on the leash, knows the sit and down commands and appears house trained. Treat motivated and is very gentle when taking them from your hand. Although he may chase a cat unless trained not to, he is friendly toward the other dogs here at the shelter. Weighs 55 pounds; $25 to adopt.

Story
Paul 385-492-1335please text me, The good: Sweet Pea is a protector and friend. I hate to see him go. He is a smart guy who loves to play. We think he might play all day if he could. His favorite play is fetching a stick or ball. He almost always returns the stick or ball so you can throw it again. He knows a few commands, come, sit, stay, drop the stick... We keep him in indoors, he is house broken, he does not scratch to get out. He is dependent on you to do your part to get him outside to avoid indoor accidents. Like all Border Collies he is actively present to ascertain every situation. We have a small dog and they get along OK. When is is relaxed he is super chill. The middle: He Barks. In my opinion he can not go to an Apartment setting and be successful. We have a small yard with a three feet fence and he does fine. He can and has jumped the fence but it usually to chase a Cat or Raccoon as far a way and up a tree as needed. He gives hugs( jumps on people he likes and if he is clean it is not too bad, if he dirty, muddy he still jumps on the people he likes). He needs seasonal grooming and hates baths. The bad: Sweet Pea gets jealous and he is a code red protector, like a guard dog. We keep him inside when the mailman delivers. He barks a lot indoors and outdoors, sometimes for no apparent reason other than he has been barking for a minute, and he can not find a reason to stop. I could say he does well with respectful children but it better to say Sweet Pea does well with the people who play with the most with him. One of my grandchildren plays fetch with him a lot and they are buddies. There is one child that does not play with him much and he is not his buddy at all and Sweet Pea protects his buddies(the child that plays with him). please text me

Story
Meet our girl Alice. She is a young Border Collie looking for an active, loving home. Alice is a very happy and outgoing gal. She loves people and wants to be right with you. Alice needs an experienced home that can offer her the physical exercise and mental stimulation she needs to blossom into the perfect dog. Alice is energetic, headstrong, and very intelligent. She will need someone that can understand and fulfill her needs. This girl is not going to be happy with just a walk around the neighborhood for exercise. She will need vigorous daily exercise for her body and mind or she becomes destructive and makes up her own games. Alice would be a perfect dog for obedience or agility work. Alice is very loving. She really enjoys being with her people. After a busy day she enjoys cuddling up on the sofa to watch a movie with you. Alice is ok with other dogs, but she needs a proper introduction. Alice is in a foster home with several other dogs and she has been doing well with supervision. She loves to run and play with them. She does have some resource guarding tendencies that her foster home has been working on. She is a bit on the dominant side with other dogs as well. Alice needs a dog savvy owner that can continue to help her work through her issues. Alice is pretty reactive to cats. She is in a foster home with cats and they have been working with her. She is still over stimulated by them and may be better in a home without kitties. Alice seems to love all people. With her energy level and herding tendencies we would recommend Alice for older children only. She may be too much for younger kids. We are requiring that Alice's adopter is willing to take her to training classes.

Story
Rusty is a 2-3 yr old border collie x husky mix. From what we know, Rusty had a very "ruff" start to life. Rusty was first spotted in early March of 2019 wandering with a pack of other stray dogs in a rural area of Southern Utah. He stood out because he had a very large open wound on his back. Rusty eluded animal control for several months. When he was finally caught he was terrified and clearly in a lot of pain (the wound had failed to heal in the months that he was wandering). Rusty spent over a month in a rural shelter where his wound continued to get worse. Herding Haven rescued Rusty in early May 2019. A visit to our amazing vet left Rusty with 18 staples and a drainage tube. It took Rusty another 5 weeks to heal physically and then we had to work on his broken spirit. Rusty has come a long way and he is now ready to find his forever home. Rusty is still nervous and wary with new people--it takes time and patience to earn his trust. But, once Rusty trusts you he will be your loyal companion. True to his husky roots, Rusty loves to be outside-- he is an awesome hiking, walking and running partner. He also loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back and drop it right by your feet (that's the border collie in him!). Rusty is good with other dogs who are fairly mellow and don't get in his face (no puppies please). Cats are a big NO for Rusty as are children. Rusty is house-broken, crate-trained and walks well on a leash. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. If you would like to meet Rusty please contact kathie@herdinghaven.org
