Story
Hi, my name is Mae, or you can call me Ms. Mae. I am the most helpful cat ever! I’m an active two-year old girl, who has already had many adventures in life. I was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina after having a litter of kittens and thought I had found my new home, but it just didn’t work out. I have a cute brown ticked coat with little white paws and a hearty appetite for food and for love! One thing you should know about me: I love people and I try to help my humans however I can. You need help walking down the stairs? I am there. You need someone to “help” you while you do normal human things around the house? You guessed it, that’s ME! I will help you with just about any task, including food tasting if you let me – the smellier the food the better. I’m very playful and energetic, but sometimes I need to know what my boundaries are. I love to play hide and seek, and with feather toys on strings, but I’m still young and when your feet move under the covers it’s just so tempting! Simply tell me no. I’m a smart girl but I’m still learning all my manners and will take a little bit more time. Praising me when I’ve been a good girl helps me a lot. I have a ton of energy and while I can make anything a fun toy in the house (ooh hairbands!) I do prefer for my human to play with me instead of playing by myself. Suffice to say, if you are human, I’d love to meet you, to play, to learn things from you, and to be your super helpful companion – what more could you ask for?

Story
How about a new Saturday morning routine, relaxing in bed with a nice cup of coffee and calorie-free streudel? That’s me! I'm Streudel, a 6-year-old white and brown tabby girl. I’ll sleep next to you, or maybe even on top of you if you’ll let me, and then you can lie in bed with me and pet me for as long as possible! Later in the day, I’ll follow you around looking for more petting. If you're busy, I can wait quietly on a sofa, but I might tap your shoulder to ask, "hey, when are you gonna take care of me?" (If all the petting suddenly gets to be too much I’ll let you know, and when we get to know each other you’ll be able to anticipate my moods.) I had a home for a while, but the resident cat took a dislike to me, so I ended up at the Montgomery County Shelter, and now here I am at AWLMC. I was a little bit shy when I arrived at my foster home but my natural curiosity won out, and I relaxed pretty quickly once I had checked out the place. I’m curious about EVERYTHING, so I love to spend time sitting in a window and watching the outside world. I’ll keep you company by talking to you out loud about what I see out there. Please come in and let’s get acquainted!

Story
Hi, I’m Huey, a three-year-old orange tabby that lives up to our easy-going ginger reputation. Yes, I’m a laid-back guy! While I like attention from the humans in my life, I can amuse myself with toys as well. Somehow, I found myself on the streets. These nice people started feeding me and brought me into their house. That was great by me but their pets didn’t like it so much. So, they took me to the County Shelter where AWLMC found me and put me in one of their foster homes. There I got along great with Dewey, the resident cat. I liked hanging out with my foster Dad too, especially when he petted me and snuggling in bed at night. It was fun when company came to visit – my foster Dad called me a “show-off” but he also says I’m “adorable”. How can you go wrong? If you’re looking for a kitty to take up residence in your house, come by and meet me!

Story
Isn’t life better with a cat on your lap? If you agree, then I’m the cat for you! I’m Zack—a six-year-old boy with long, fluffy black fur, an especially fluffy white chest and tummy, and distinctive white whiskers and feet. I’ll tiptoe into your lap whenever you sit down, and I’m such a natural lap sitter that you’ll have been petting me for five minutes before you even realize I’m there. I’ll stretch and purr and give kisses and knead. I want to be petted and skritched, and you can rub my tummy and even give me a hug. I love to be brushed, too, which is a good thing because I’m a bit of a dust magnet. My rough pawpads show that I spent some time as a stray on the streets; now that I’m indoors, I can’t get enough of people. I’ll often come when I’m called, and I’ll help you welcome friends to the house, walking right up to humans I haven’t met yet. But I do have good indoor manners; I’ll wait to be invited before jumping on the bed with you at bedtime, and I never jump on shelves or counters. I don’t run around much, either. I like playing with little toys—especially the pyramid with three balls on tracks—and jumping for a feather wand. I have a big appetite and will follow you into the kitchen, meowing sadly, so watch out and don’t trip over me. Please come in and meet me. See how good it feels to stroke my fluffy fur and how perfectly I fit into your lap!

Story
Sam is a very loving adult male, short-haired grey and white cat. He is roughly 15 years old and is in excellent health. He has been raised as an indoor/outdoor cat, but he never strays far from home. His favorite place to be is in a person’s lap and he will purr non-stop. Sam came to us through a neighbor (his original owner) who passed away a few years ago. The family had no one to adopt him so, we took him in. We’ve loved having Sam as part of the family, but our family has changed and grown over the years with 2 rescue dogs and the dynamics just aren’t working out. We believe Sam would be much happier in a home where he is the center of attention and less stress from dogs.

Story
Frankie is a sweet, playful kitty who really bonds with his humans. He loves play mice and happily will play fetch. He’s lived with a chocolate lab and another kitty as well as a young child without a problem. Though, he really wants a playmate and my older cat isn’t a great partner for that. Ideally he needs a home with another young cat to play with and a human pal who is home a lot. He has a bit of separation anxiety and will pee outside of litter box if stressed. He loves to visit outside and always comes in meowing and telling me a story of his outdoor adventures. Between his desire to play taking a toll on my older cat and his stress reaction of rogue peeing, we just can’t give him the environment he needs. He has a wonderful kitty personality, loving and entertaining.
