Story
Hi, I'm Ghiradeli! I'm from Alabama.
She is listed and a Chi-Terrier mix, with the "lively, quick, alert and devoted characteristics of a Chi and the affectionate, spunky and playfulness attitude of a terrier. She often is jumping up to see who is at the door, and enjoys watching out the window, yet she does so without barking. As of 5/5/24, she weighs 11 lbs and has a silky short coat with very minimal shedding, and large light brown eyes. The tips of her ears flop down, but given the right wind, can float up (similar to a Chi!)
Ghiridelli is a people-dog, and will be devoted to her humans; but also want to play with my dog. She has not exhibited anxiety when going into the crate, and although she enjoys the company of her humans, she will go into her bed in the same room. We leave the door of it open during the day, and she will go in there on her own and sleep. When following a schedule, she is potty trained, but I have not known her long enough to trust her uncrated by herself. Additionally, she sleeps throughout the night, happily entering it without struggle. She does make cute dream/snoring sounds sometimes, and I wonder if she is running in her sleep!
Training wise, she is very eager to learn and is highly food motivated! I would recommend doing training classes because she is so intelligent and it would be a mentally stimulating environment, but it isn't necessary! She has sharp teeth at the moment, but has not chewed on cords, shoes etc. She does get over excited when giving kisses, and sometimes her sharp teeth get involved, but that is redirect able and not intentional. Two areas that I would want to address would be recall (as she is very fast, and loves to sniff things so it is sometimes hard to get her attention back) and jumping (she just wants to see what is going on!). We have not achieved loose-leash walking, but she does respect her leash and will walk while it is attached. The final thing would be that a fenced yard would be wonderful for her, or at the ability to have access to an area that she could run without fear of escaping.
