RESILENCE. HEART. FORGIVENESS. REDEMPTION.
As a rescue, we are always champions for the underdog - it would be our opinion that all dogs deserve a second chance. But every once and a while, we come across a dog so special; a dog that has had to overcome so much, that we (as people) have so much to learn from. Kimberlina is THAT girl!
Abandoned on the city streets of Houston, TX, pregnant, alone, Kimberlina was forced to find food, water, and shelter in completely unfamiliar (and dangerous) surroundings. By the time she was taken to the sanctuary of an already over-crowded shelter, she was covered in defensive wounds - Kimberlina is missing all of her front teeth, so it would have been nearly impossible for her to defend herself. Shortly thereafter, Kimberlina went into labor. Her pups only survived for a few hours; the trauma and conditions prior to their birth were not meant to be.
So there Kimberlina sat, alone and placed on the list to be euthanized. Thank goodness a shelter worker recognized the heart of this girl that had been through so much and has so much love left to give. Certainly, the life of this sweet girl was not meant to end this way. She took her out, spent some time getting to know her and called our rescue to see if we could make room. How happy we are that we were recently able to welcome her to Colorado and give her a much-deserved lease on life! Despite her past, Kimberlina is still accepting of other dogs and seeks the attention and affection of people of all sizes. She is petite and gentle...all she needs is a chance at a real-life in a stable and loving home to blossom into the companion we just know she is destined to become!

Listed originally as a Canaan Dog mix, Kimberlina appears to be more of a Corgi/Red Heeler Mix in person. She weighs just under 40lbs, is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and will be undergoing heartworm treatment at the full expense of the rescue.
