Story
Doug is a 2 yr old Corgi mix (we think mixed with German Shepherd). He is super playful, good with dogs and kids but has not been cat tested. He loves to follow his humans everywhere! He is very eager to learn! He's in the process of learning house training and also crate training, but the crate's not his favorite place yet. He is super goofy and we are sure he will make his future owner so happy! Doug is located in Denver and his adoption fee is $400.

Story
The very first thing that Wiley the Corgi/Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're barely aware of the striking golden colors that run through his soft as cotton coat - with a commitment to consistent grooming, nurturing care and excellent nutrition, Wiley's coat will not only be silky soft..but shining with good health. Everything is new to Wiley...he sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Wiley is on your lap or cuddling close as he sleeps through the night next to his favorite family members. Wiley is so happy there because his relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Wiley came from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Wiley may initially be a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he becomes the most loving guy ever! Wiley is a calm and very sweet dog that wants nothing more than kindness and love...he returns these loving sentiments to his family a thousand times over. This 1.5 year old, 21 lb guy truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job. Wiley is at such a great age..old enough to be past babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy and active years ahead. His weight is the perfect size for hiking the mountains of Colorado (and love it!) and at days end to cuddle close on the couch or bed all night long. Wiley has been described by his foster as a sweet and kind guy. He'll need a bit of time and lots of love as he acclimates to his new home..but when he does, he'll be a gift to a family that will love him like crazy. He'll return these emotions a million times over! We envision Wiley with active retirees that are searching for a wonderful fuzzy guy as a best friend. Wiley will blossom with the love and attention that retirees often bestow on their pets. Wiley would also do well with a family with older kids (we're always concerned about tail-pulling and awkward handling by very young children) who want a very handsome and loving dog as a family member and best companion. We'd like Wiley in a family that works just part-time, from home or at a pet-friendly workplace. He will be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Corgi/Terrier mix, Wiley loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He'll be a natural in positive reinforcement/force free group obedience classes. He'll love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that we have no doubt that he'll excel. Farfel's feels so strongly that positive training classes are imperative for the long-term relationship between humans and dogs that we're unwilling to adopt Wiley to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. We've requested that Wiley be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Wiley's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Wiley is arriving on transport in Denver on in mid to late March. Applications are currently being accepted for our gorgeous pup. If interested in this very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Wiley please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
