Poplar is a bouncy and happy 3 year old who weighs in at 28.9 pounds. We believe that Poplar is a Corgi/Terrier mix...he definitely has the distinctive Corgi booty. This cute fella is inquisitive and loves to say hello to everyone he meets! We have noticed that he doesn't like to be reached over or picked up, it makes him feel trapped. Due to this, he needs a home with no children under the age of 12. On his own terms, Poplar loves to come up and cuddle in your lap! If you have room in your heart, home, and lap - apply today because Poplar is anxiously awaiting his forever home! From one of Poplar's favorite volunteers: "He is definitely house-trained, goes out and comes back in easily, no accidents in house. Does not need crated, he does not touch anything in the house at all when left alone, just sits on the couch or looks out back door. He likes chasing and running around with squeaky toys. I can pick him up and lean over him putting his harness on no problem, once he knows and trusts someone he is okay with that. He likes to sit on your lap and lick your face. He met neighbors on either side at the backyard fence and got pets and was fine. He doesn’t show the same excitability as in the shelter, doesn’t jump up like he does there, he listens well. Would make a good apartment dog as he doesn’t need a lot of space, and he really doesn’t bark. At night he sleeps on his blanket in the bedroom, he will jump up in bed if you want, but is good about getting off and going to his spot for the night. Once you earn his trust and he is comfortable with you he is a great all around dog." His minimum adoption donation is $235 plus a $12 fee for rabies registration with McLean County Animal Control. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
